Mike S Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Sun evening after installing a gate on our new bamboo backyard fence we took abreak and went in search of a new place to eat .... we ended up at the ChickenHouse just north of Gainaso City .... wasn't sure what to expect but so far here(unlike Cebu) we have not found a really bad chicken place to eat ..... in Cebueverything is coated in either a salty or sugar based excuse of a barbeque sauce..... I mean everywhere from the street vendors to restaurants serve it ... gotso I hated to eat chicken except at the KFC ...The place is really big with both indoor and outdoor seating .... we choose toeat outdoors .... just for the record they charge 10% more to eat in the aircon.... but that isn't why we ate outside ... just like the atmosphere sometimes....We ordered 3 chicken legs with thigh's .... 2 pork barbecue's ... 2 orders ofgrilled chicken liver ... double order of rice and one Coke .... price came top392 .....Food and service in my opinion was excellent nothing was overpowering and I mustsay the pork barbecue had an excellent tang added to it ... a bit spicy for myasawa .... she doesn't do hot .... but for me it was sensational .... had Iknown how good it was I would have just ordered it but the chicken helpedcompliment the pork ....The staff was very helpful and knew their jobs and performed well .... not surewhat it is like during rush hour as we were only 1 of about 3 couples when wefirst got there .... as we were leaving it was starting to get crowded .....plenty of parkingAnyway for what it is worth we liked the place and plan on going back again..... JMHO  :cheersty:

It's on the corner of San Juan & San Sabastian St's.

i am bob Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Now, Mike, tell me you aren't moving back to Cebu soon? I have to admit - by the sound of the food and then looking at the prices you give, it sounds like eating out could be a very common way to live regardless of budgets.
samatm Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Isn't there a national chain called Bacolod chicken. How is Bacolod Chicken typically different from Cebu BBQ ?
Mike S Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 (edited) Isn't there a national chain called Bacolod chicken. How is Bacolod Chicken typically different from Cebu BBQ ? Well the biggest difference I have noticed is that Cebu chicken is mostly covered in a sauce that doesn't even come close to the BBQ sauce we are used to in the US .... but I guess if I was raised on this type I would become accustom to it ..... that being said Bacolod chicken is normally cooked over an open flame or what I called grilled with just a touch of seasonings ..... never sweet or salty .... just mild vinegar .... sometime a little calamansi and garlic ...... never the over powering taste of the soy sauce ... sugar and calamansi and other ingredients like in Cebu ....... I am not a big fan of anything that tastes salty or sweet ..... Not sure about the national chain called Bacolod Chicken ..... :cheersty: Edited May 27, 2013 by Mike S
i am bob Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 My favourite is still my own recipe... Just brush a little melted butter on the chicken as needed. The butter can be seasoned with a little garlic, hot sauce, orange juice... take your pick! Oh, wait... The orange juice goes into the glass with a touch of rum. And a little rum to flavour the butter for the chicken... Or was that the.. *hic*, the chicken in the glass, the rum and... burrrrpppp :mocking:
