Mike S Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I would think that the high cost of them would keep most people away from buying them ...... but as they say "different strokes for different folks" .........
TheMason Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 (edited) http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/04/22/first.m...tnet/index.htmlExperts: Malicious program targets MacsAs Mac machines become more popular, people who make virus programs are starting to target them too!Apple just released their Q1 2009 sales figures today. Total Mac shipments dropped, which is unheard of for Apple. Mac computers are just a blip on the market. They only have 7.4% of the US market, down from 8.0% in Q4 2008. On a global basis, Apple has about 3% of the market. You won't see effective, wide-scale attacks on the Mac until those market share numbers increase. If the iphone catches on with corporate America I think you'll see a lot of iphone viruses befre you see Mac viruses.I would think that the high cost of them would keep most people away from buying them ...... but as they say "different strokes for different folks" .........The economic crisis is hurting Mac sales, but not so much for their other products. Apple is not really a computer company anymore. They make their money on iPhones and iPods. Sales of those are still very strong.
