Bruce Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 I think you will find that Thailand is 18 years the same as the Philippines, If you lower the age then result will be more unwanted pregnancies imo. I was a teen once! Why most members were teens too at one time in their lives. Believe me when I say..... And I think I speak for most members here and anywhere else... When the prospect of having SEX became available... I do not remember one time saying... no, I should not have sex because she may get pregnant... I will wait until she and I are 18 which then classifies the pregnancy in a different category than 'unwanted teen pregnancies.... Perhaps it is different on your planet. :hystery: But on Earth, teens have been having sex for thousand of years and I have yet to hear about anyone, other than a 'Christian teen with issues' say anything the age of consent. (Tebow!..... ISSUES) But don't believe me, just ask Jake!
Bruce Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 Does anyone else find it interesting that some governments (I am thinking USA because they are always in the news) follow their citizens around the world and selectively decide what laws they must follow? Example: US citizen goes to Amsterdam. Does he have to follow the US law about smoking dope or the local law. Then US citizen goes to Columbia (example from opening post). Does he have to follow the US law about who he can date. I actually find it disturbing that a government would do that and their citizens would let them. It must be the brainwashing given out through school because if Russia or China told us what we could or could not do there would be hell to pay. I have always thought the US government arrogance was disturbing. And it is a one way street. As an example, the US navy has the 'right' (US LAW) to board any ship anywhere in the world under the guise of protecting the US from a direct threat or a smuggling threat. BUT... say the Congo navy :hystery: was to try to board a US navy vessel due to the weapons coming close to the Congo borders....What do you think will happen? As for the following of the US citizen into other countries... SURE! While I have never had an issue upon my return to the US because I only travel to the Philippines, the officers in the LA airport ask all travelers where they have been. A single male coming from Thailand gets the 'full treatment' as it is assumed he is a pedophile (pedaeophile for the Queen's subjects)! Check the cell phone camera, the lap top and travel history....
Call me bubba Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 (edited) althou i cant speak about the RP on this. I can recall in most states in the US, they have a "2-3"yr age difference allowance/ meaning of the same peer group. so if i was a HS senior (age 18) i could legally date( and ??) if she was w/in that 2-3 yr age range. if she was in the same classes/same peer activities, that would be a"legal defense" So now you have a boy who is 17 and a girl who is 17 experimenting and that is considered fine. But if the boy turns 18 before the girl does, what he has done in the past is now considered Statutory Rape and he can be charged with such. again i am not a lawyer and have not studied/or read up on US/state laws regarding teenage "age of consent" as i have no need to know,,, however i just read a story of a 18yo female being arrested for having "underage relations"( a fellow female classmate) in the state of Florida a week or 2 ago. if this girl does plead guilty she would be " tagged "for life as a sex offender Edited June 3, 2013 by Pittman apartments Sgn
Bruce Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 however i just read a story of a 18yo female being arrested for having "underage relations"( a fellow female classmate) in the state of Florida a week or 2 ago. if this girl does plead guilty she would be " tagged "for life as a sex offender The younger girl was 14 and the older girl was warned to stop and stay away from the younger girl by that girls family. They made several efforts to make the situation simply go away and the older girl kept after the 14 yr old girl. While she is trying to make this a gay / anti lesbian thing, the reality is that the parents of a 14 yr old made the decision that their 14 yr old daughter should not be in a sexual relationship with an 18 yr old woman. If the 18 yr old was a male, I see the same thing happening. So it is not simply an anti gay thing at all. The 18yr old is just trying to use the gay community to pressure the family into withdrawing a complaint. Has not worked so far.......
JJReyes Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 The justification of imposing American style morality on other countries come from a 1845 phrase, "Manifest Destiny." It gave Americans the right to impose their brand of Christianity on the heathen Native Americans even if that included killing and torturing them. Part of the manifest destiny movement is somehow the US government system is superior to others. Therefore, everyone should copy it. If they don't, we should impose it anyway. The latest examples are Iraq and Afghanistan. Yes! Both countries are now democracies. We won! If you think I am kidding, look at what's happening in the poorest countries of Africa. The Evangelical Christians at out there in huge numbers trying to convert the local heathen population. When the Islamic groups retaliate, where do the Christians go for protection? There are even groups trying to smuggle Bibles into North Korea. I believe at least one is in a North Korean jail at the moment and the sponsoring group is asking the US government to intervene. So George "W" tried to reform Philippine morality by raising the age of consent. This is tame stuff by comparison. "W" is just fulfilling his manifest destiny as a Christian. Tukaram (Tim) Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 The Spanish did it all the time - look how bad they f-ed the South Americans. The Brits did it in their empire too. The Americans continued a bad tradition. Still wrong - but unfortunately nothing new. And it will probably never go away.

I agree .... people seem to forget (or maybe just don't want to remember) that the Catholic church has been doing the righteous live our way for centuries .... long before there was an America ..... and also look at the Crusades ...... religion is one of the biggest culprits in telling us how we should live or lives ..... and now its Allah's turn ...... it isn't the countries it is the religious zealots with in the countries that try and tell others how to live .... don't believe me .... look it up ... history is just jam packed with examples .... ex. George Bush .... people blame him for the big expansion in the trafficking laws .... George Bush is a very religious man ..... and so he feels it is wrong to go against the bible ..... .... don't worry he is just the drop in the bucket compared to the Spanish Inquisition ..... :cheersty: Edited June 4, 2013 by Mike S

I agree with you 100%. Absolutely. But before I left Canada the majority of people trying to talk me out of coming here said exactly. . . yes exactly the same thing about a 20 year old in relation to a 50 year old man. So who gets to draw the line.
