Popular Post OnMyWay Posted June 27, 2013 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2013 I finally got around to signing up for Philhealth and it was a piece of cake. The Olongapo city office is nice and with aircon. The info desk guy gave me the form and told us we needed a copy of my ACR card, so while I filled the form Abby went across the street and made a copy. Five minutes waiting and I had my new Philhealth card, 5 more minutes to pay p900 for 2 quarters, and we were done. Tip: It is probably best to sign up right after the end of a quarter so you pay for a full quarter. They go by calendar quarter so I paid p450 for Q2 that ends June 30th, and p450 for Q3 ending Sep 30th. I'm not sure if I could have done it differently and asked them to start after July 1, but for about $10 per quarter, I am not complaining about my blunder! In retrospect, I think the guy was hinting to me that I should do it differently but my brain was too feeble to understand! :bash:

Thomas Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I finally got around to signing up for Philhealth and it was a piece of cake. If I have understood corect it's best to get it in wife's name anyway - for foreigners who are married :) to a Filipina - because then you get some more persons on same insurance (=her parents. And kids if she has any.)

It will be interesting to find out if I'm correct about that.

Some logic for illnesses and such, which can be instigated by actions before that - e g pregnancy :mocking: - but don't they pay for accidents either?? For one to become eligible for the benefits, payment of at least three (3) months within the immediate six (6) months prior to the month of confinement shall be required. However, payment of at least nine months within the last 12 months shall be asked of Individually Paying Members availing of the following procedures/packages: • Pregnancy-related cases • Dialysis (except those undergoing emergency dialysis service during confinement) • Chemotherapy • Cataract Extraction • Radiotherapy • Selected surgical procedures Individually Paying Members and Employed Members will now be required to have at least nine (9) months contributions within twelve (12) months prior to the month of availment for all confinements including availment of outpatient benefits).

OK checked and wife showed marriage certificate to add me as a dependent? I had to get one policy for myself and then one for my wife, (annulment pending),her two girls and her mother. Last December we heard of the premium increase coming so we paid for all of 2013 in advance at 100p/month. I am very surprised at the many Pinoys that do not have it yet they spend far more than that playing cards, smoking, and drinking. Or buying junk food for the kids. Last week, the news said about Philhealth being available free for all, like universal healthcare. It went on to say so that even the poor would have coverage. It did not say that there was an income threshold but I expect that there would be. Their news articles are so hard to understand, like the BI rules and the banking info.
