Papa Carl Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I have been paying Philhealth, since I first started working here. I registered my wife, (only because she had not registered herself before) but like SSS, TIN and Pag Abig, once you have a number it is yours for life, you can not have more than one number. When our daughter was born, we had to register her under my Phil Health. It does not provide much cover, but at least guarantees the basic Health Coverage. As with all things here in the Philippines, a great deal of difference depending upon where you live, and what emergency care is available close to where you live. Thomas Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I had to get one policy for myself and then one for my wife, (annulment pending),her two girls and her mother. Isn't she Filipina?Or why can't your wife, you, her kids and HER parents be on same insurance, if having her as the main??

MacBubba Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Would we qualify for Philhealth when we retire in the Philippines? My wife is a Filipina national, but a Canadian citizen. I am a Canadian. We will both be on Balikbayan visas.

We will both be on Balikbayan visas. Yes. At least there weren't any restrictions for my situation, when I read the rules a year ago, (if any it would be HEALTH related, not nationality related.) But some have talked about they have some higher FEES than what I have read it is for employed Filipins, when I checked employing rules. I don't know if it is so, but it's a rather small fee anyway.
JJReyes Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I would to confirm PhilHealth policy. If you derive no income from the Philippines (retiree), the annual premium is P1,800. The premium can be paid on a calendar quarter basis (P450 x 4). The member has to pay the premium for one quarter and wait 90 days before they can start receiving benefits. If you hire a Kasambahay (domestic helper), you are required to pay for their PhilHealth premium after one month of employment. The national government is planning to provide universal healthcare. This means "premium payments" for the poor are covered through the national budget. Thanks in advance.
Tukaram (Tim) Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Would we qualify for Philhealth when we retire in the Philippines? My wife is a Filipina national, but a Canadian citizen. I am a Canadian. We will both be on Balikbayan visas. Yes you will. I am just here on a tourist visa and signed up last week, finally. I signed up myself and my girlfriend. All I needed was my passport & birth certificate - with a xerox of each. If my girlfriend had her fathers birth certificate she could have added him onto her account since he is over 60. We will add him later. The signup was super easy! Here in Iloilo the Robinsons mall has a satellite office for PhilHealth. The only bad part was having to go to Western Union to pay, then go back upstairs with the receipt to PhilHealth to get our ID card. Western Union took over an hour! The ID card issue was a bit weird... they handed me a card with my name typed on it and told me to put my own 1x1 picture on it and have it laminated. Doesn't seem very secure...
