imonacan Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 After looking into it.. getting PhilHealth, seems like a no brainer. My wife and daughter are Philippine nationals, and I can be added later... though my wife (please correct me, if I'm wrong). It doesn't seem like this is enough, in case of an extended health emergency, or possible future declining health of a family member (probably me) . Right now, I would be paying $600 plus per month, to maintain my Excellus blue cross / blue shield policy here in the US, after retirement. There is no option, to continue this coverage living overseas (so I think), which I fell is quite expensive, anyhow.. but Does cover everything. I'm hoping I can do much better in the Pinas (cost wise)... between a private family policy, and Philhealth. Just was wondering... what others are paying in Cebu, and how they are doing it, and if dental care is cheap enough to do out of pocket, or I should also include it in a policy ? Any advice, and comparisons.. is greatly appreciated, and I Thank You in advance, for taking the time to reply. Bill

Call me bubba Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 600x12=7200 a yr, humm. consider self insure . if your in good health that 7200,(300.000 php plus) would allow very good coverage or a policy either from an HMO, www.caritashealthshield.com.ph, blue cross or another firm, if you plan to add/cover your wife/child that would add the premium much higher, hope the topics listed below can assist you in making the best choice for you.your family may i ask the ages of you?and family to be insured ,also note,,,i could be wrong,, insurance here does not cover most "vaccinations" unlike the usa here are 2 previous .active topics that could help you decide. http://www.philippines-expats.com/topic/13665-retire-in-the-philippines-without-good-medical-cover-at-your-peril/ http://www.philippines-expats.com/topic/15721-philhealth-gobal-ins-or-self-insure/
