Girlfriend Promised To Muslim

Greetings All,

 

I have a girlfriend who found out a number of days ago that she was promised to a Musilm. She says she will not marry him. In fact, her father Filipino/Muslim has assigned an escort to keep her from leaving the house. She’s 23 years old. Furthermore, the Muslim owns the property they live on and her parents works the farm. I understand that he may have even contributed to her education. I even hear there is a possibility that they will kill her parents if she does not comply. What can I do? I want to move her to Manila where she will be able to work as a nurse until I can visit her and apply for the K1 visa. There are also security warnings now due to a Muslim uprising in the Dipolog area and no flights or ships are operating. All are invited to weigh in. Thanks!

No matter what you do, this is a very serious subject where even the most remote possibility of lives

are being threaten (your GF and her parents).

 

It would be a lot easier to just walk away but we can't advise that either.  You just came on board and 

breaking your heart is not a cool way to advise a new member.

Have you met the girl in person before John?

If you have, did you spend more than a couple of days together?

 

Have you sent her any money before?

When you first began to communicate, did she tell you her family was Muslim?

Is she a follower of that faith? Did she tell you up front?

 

If you showed up on her doorstep one day, what do you think the response would be from her father? The landowner? The arranged groom?

 

The only possible way I can see her "escaping" all this is for you to send her the money to do just that.

That would involve a whole ton of risks John....not only to you, but a thousand times more to this girl.

 

If the "groom" found out, the father found out or the land owner found out......great harm would certainly come to your GF.

 

I am won't tell you how to proceed here, John but your facing a very very difficult situtation, a very dangerous situation.

Sorry, but the non-disclosure, which should have been made earlier, makes me suspicious of a possible scam. Make sure you verify that all information shared are accurate. This is not normal practice even in Islamic Mindanao. A wealthy person does not pay for the education of someone to become a nurse with a contractual obligation to get married. Anyone who would make such an arrangement with the parents would want girl's education limited to reading the Quran

As far as I know, a muslim does not enter into a marriage contract with an infidel... sorry, non muslim. There are more issues here than you are aware of or letting on. While coming to the rescue of a pretty woman has been the downfall of many men, the practice continues. Have you been asked to fund her escape? Bribe money for the guard and transportation and other incidental costs....?

 

Is this an internet relationship? Skype / YM ... Have you seen her? Met her? Due to your location and her location, I see the only path leading to the spending of money. Your money. And there are NO nursing jobs in Manila.... Really. Currently there are an estimated 400,000 unemployed nurses or people with a nursing degree who can not find a nursing job.  

 

The closure of the airport and sea port are not a big issue. Dress like an average catholic girl and take the jeepney as far as it goes and then stop the bus that will pass by and go CDO.

 

However, all the news reports say the fighting is in southern Zamboanga City and not in northern city of Dipolog... very curious! Smells more like a scam story all the time.

 

So I suggest young play along and get more details from her and let the forum know and then members can give you the insight to call her bluff or to simply play the game out.

Sorry man, take some time and step back from it. Sharia law is real and gaining ground even in the US.
