Our daughter's school had a "Sportsfest" week before last, and some of the activities took place at the Remy Field Sports Complex here in Subic Bay Freeport Zone.  It is a nice area.  I had not been inside most of it before, so I snapped a few pics.  They also started building an Olympic pool about a month ago and it appears to be well underway.

5 indoor badminton courts

Our Oz in action with 3 indoor tennis courts in the background.  She is quite good for a 9 year old 4th grader, but her partner was a 5th grade boy who was not very good.  They lost the first match but then won the consolation match.  We are proud that despite the loss her skills were recognized and today she was picked to represent the school against other schools!

Her hand-eye coordination is excellent!  I remember when I first met her a few years ago when she was 7, we were playing with a nerf ball.  I threw it at her, hard, and she casually stuck her hand up and caught it, like she had been playing baseball for years!  I'm hoping that she will pick up tennis and go pro later, so she can support us when we are old!  :hystery:

Just to be clear the school is not at this location.  They had a nice little parade to get from the school to the sports complex.

First School of Subic Bay is a private nonsectarian school, but with a bit of the cultural Catholic influence in everyday activities.

The tuition is about p34,000 a year if you pay up front, a bit more if you use the payment plan which is only a 1 or 2 payment plan.  They are supposed to limit the class size to 25 but this year they did not have enough 4th graders, so Oz's class is closer to 30.

They kind of got hammered this year because a new international school opened, American Int'l School.  AIS was offering a lot of promos to lure students away and they did.  I suspect the promos were only good for a year.  I heard about the promos after we enrolled at First.

Financially and academically First seemed like the best choice for us.  I could not afford the other 2 good Int'l schools based on their list prices.

Brent School - About 14k usd a year

AIS - About 8 k usd a year

First - About 1k usd a year

Of course those expensive schools have far better facilities than First.  First does not really have any large outdoor areas.  There is a large Catholic school in Olongapo City that seems good, but the location was not good for us, and we wanted Oz to be with a more Int'l group of students.

Brent has a high % of Korean kids and I am guessing the Korean expat employee's companies pick up the tab.  I'm not sure what the mix is at AIS.  First has a lot of Filipinos, quite a few Koreans, a couple of Americans and a quite a few mixed kids.  They all seem to intermingle well, which I like.  Two of Oz's BFF have Irish and British step-daddys, but are pure Filipina.

Most of those facilities are left behind by the Americans.  The indoor tennis seems fairly new so they may have refurbished or replaced the outside skin.
