OnMyWay Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Yesterday I noted that the Mitsubishi and Ford dealers near our house were FLOODED with vehicles for repair. Normally they are quiet with only a few cars parked outside. Currently the cars are stacked 2 to 3 deep all around the building. I'm sure all the local repair places are FLOODED with repairs and reconditioning. Get ready for a FLOOD of used cars to hit Sulit and the used car dealers.
earthdome Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Be careful when buying used. I had a car get flooded years ago. Even though all the fluids were changed out and the interior completely removed to clean it up that car was never the same and had minor electrical and other problems after that. In that case the water only got up to just below the dash. I have no idea how you can detect that a car had been flooded.
Bigdog Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 One way is to pull a door panel and look for a water mark on the inside...

OnMyWay Posted September 27, 2013 Author Posted September 27, 2013 I have no idea how you can detect that a car had been flooded. Similar to what Bigdog said, you have to get into some unseen places and look for muck. A guy I met here who is a good mechanic suggested getting your hand up under the dash and feel around for strange stuff!

Jake Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 getting your hand up under the dash and feel around for strange stuff I am now waiting for JAKE and BRUCE comment. :hystery: Hmm -- let me see...... How about the Filipino tradition about blessing the family car. Judy and I somewhat Americanized that tradition by blessing the back seat......he, he. So if you guys find the back seat kinda wet and sticky, I strongly suggest you continue on with that tradition. lyno 47 Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Most modern cars have a couple of clips or pins in the glove box or compartment remove these and have a look around with a torch if you see any mud etc apart from a bit of dust stay well clear :cheersty:
OnMyWay Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Update: We finally have had sun here in Subic. When we drove by the Mitsubishi dealer yesterday they had 6 or 8 full sets of seats (front and back) lined up outside along the road, drying in the sun. Today I noticed that the "wall of windows" in the service area, which faces the morning sun, is also full of sets of carpets drying. Plenty of low mileage Mitsubishis for sale soon! :hystery:
