I have seen advert for Asiana Airlines and it seems to be very good price.  Has anyone used this airline before?

I would be grateful if you could post your experience if you had used this airline before.  If not, perhaps you could recommend a good budget airline and why it is good.

And for the smart alec – I know first class is good and would love to try that one if you could lend me some money.  I promise faithfully to pay you back!  :mocking:  :hystery:

Also can anyone recommend and why a good (price wise) beach hut in Mactan/Lapulapu?????

Many thanks

Ashanti

Hello Miss Ashanti,

My mother has used Asiana many times now from Los Angeles to Manila.  She said it was cheap and had no

complaints about her flights.  I believe all or most of the international flights stop at Inchon, SK for further

connections to other Asian countries (Cebu).

Regarding a bamboo hut on the beach, you should check out my recommendation.  Of course the forum rules

apply here.  You have to go be the naked Jane while waiting for Tarzan.  But watch out for them snakes, OK?

Respectfully -- Jake, the snake.....he, he.

thanks for that jakey ........

Asiana really have a good price UK to PI but cynical me thinks that there might be a catch somewhere as those mostly cheap flights adverts seem to have.

As to a beach hut - i doubt snake would go near me ............ unless they want to be snake casserole, roast snake or the latest snake handbag  :hystery:

seriously, i thought a beach hut would be more mosquito free (if ever it happened at tall) due to the sea breeze.  Kind of 2x shots in one bow.  the sea breeze to cool you off (my husband is having problems with the heat in PI) and to ward off mosquitos (mostly, i hope)

If tarzan is around ............... BRING IT ON!!!  ill never say no to a free show - i want front seat!!!

:hystery:  :hystery:  :hystery: ..............

Asiana Airlines is an excellent airline with good service and a new fleet we have flown them many times over the years. If something seems too good to be true beware. Are you dealing with a trusted ticket agent?

I take vitamin B to ward off mosquitoes. For extra protection at night, use mosquito nets. Tuck the edges under the mattress to prevent crawly insects from joining you.

thanks for that - never thought of Vitamin B.

However, i think the husband will rather suffer the mosquito bite than the PI heat - so netting i think is out of question.  hence the beach hut to have hopefully a free flowing wind to cool you off.

i cant stand the air conditioner which both husband and son loved so there is always a fight of who turn off the conditioner and fingers are always pointing at poor moi   :th_unfair:

Hello Miss Ashanti,

Perhaps you could tell us your beach area destination, so that your fellow members can do some research for you.

Regarding the free showing of our resident Tarzan, I believe JGF is fully booked except for JAN 2014.  He will slither

up that dance pole, gyrating the night away.  Make sure you have your single dollars available, so that you could

slip a few under his snake skin thong.

Make sure you wear a face shield if you are sitting in the front row......he, he.

Ask around the travel agents in GB find ones who are bucket shops that is a ticket consolidator agent. They should have the lowest prices.

If you want lowest prices be flexible in the date you travel. As you know high season is expensive. Find an Asian ticket agency who will work with you looking for promos and other bargains.

Only fly with a well known quality carrier like Asiana. Don't fly a budget player or PAL. Don't fly Pal. Don't fly PAL!

Two pilots on the Asiana Airlines Inc. (020560) plane that crash-landed at a San Francisco airport in July will return to work as ground staff, the company said.

The pilots, Lee Kang Kuk and Lee Jung Min, will return to work as early as this week, Lee Hyo Min, a spokeswoman for the Seoul-based airline, said today. Their specific roles haven’t been determined, she said.

July 6 (Bloomberg) -- A Boeing Co. 777 operated by Asiana Airlines Inc. on a flight from Seoul crashed while landing at San Francisco International Airport, killing two as escaping passengers plummeted down emergency slides. (Source: Bloomberg)

Manual flying skills and cockpit teamwork are part of the U.S. probe into the crash of Asiana Flight 214, which struck a seawall short of the San Francisco airport on July 6, killing three people. Lee Kang Kuk was in control of the Boeing Co. 777 plane and was being trained by Lee Jung Min on the flight. More than 300 people survived the crash, the first fatal airline accident in the U.S. since 2009.

Spokeswoman Lee declined to comment on whether the two pilots will resume flying in the future.

Asiana fell 0.8 percent to 5,000 won in Seoul trading. The stock has fallen 19 percent this year, compared with a 0.1 percent climb in South Korea’s benchmark Kospi index.

Lee Kang Kuk, 46, logged 9,793 flight hours before the accident. Only 43 were on the 777, after he moved up from the narrow-body Boeing 737, and he was making his first trip to San Francisco on the wide-body aircraft.

Lee Jung Min, 49, a Korea Aerospace University graduate who joined Asiana in 1996, had flown 12,387 hours, including 3,220 on the 777.

Two other pilots on Flight 214 returned to flying last month, spokeswoman Lee said.

Safety Standards

Asiana, South Korea’s second-biggest airline, plans to expand instruction for air crew and begin an outside review of safety standards, it said last month. Pilots will get more hours in flight simulators to prepare for approaches to airports without landing guidance systems.

The carrier said it will also hire another company to evaluate its procedures, add safety specialists and boost maintenance.

Lee Kang Kuk was using a visual approach the day of the accident because the instrument landing system’s glide slope, which helps line up the correct path to the runway, was closed for construction. Former Asiana pilots and trainers have said in interviews that the company’s pilots were well trained on automatic systems, yet rarely flew manually.

It was Asiana’s first fatal accident since a Boeing 747 cargo plane went down at sea in the southern part of South Korea in July 2011.
