Forum Support Old55 Posted October 18, 2013 Forum Support Posted October 18, 2013 In Philippines there are rules that apply to Expats. Foreigner visitors have their issues too. There are guidelines that more or less govern the average Filipino citizen. Then there are those special individuals who are above it all. http://kickerdaily.com/is-freddie-aguilar-guilty-of-seduction-andor-child-abuse/
Papa Carl Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 As in a previous post, this is similar, if the 16 year old is not pressing any charges or making any complaints, and he has the written consent of her parents, then I believe there is nothing that will happen with this. I thought there was a huge difference in age between my wife, now 26 and myself 58, but this certainly out does our age gap. But then my wife was 19 when I met her. Tukaram (Tim) Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I think no matter how you look at it or what extenuating circumstances there are... if it was an expat and a 16 year old there would be no question but how long is the jail sentence ha ha :tiphat:
Jake Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Looks like the famous Filipino rock star Freddie Aguilar (age 60) will be marrying his current girlfriend, age 16. His classic song called ANAK (child) seems to be appropriate in this case.....he, he. http://entertainment.inquirer.net/117155/freddie-aguilar-courts-controversy-with-16-year-old-girlfriend
Tukaram (Tim) Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Anak? Wouldn't "Apo" be more accurate? Oh well, at least this proves that Filipinas like older men - not just older foreigner men... I am sure money is not a factor ha ha :tiphat:

Forum Support Old55 Posted October 23, 2013 Author Forum Support Posted October 23, 2013 Update; It looks as though the powers to be are "looking" into this issue. MANILA, Philippines - Even before singer Freddie Aguilar told the public about his 16-year-old girlfriend, the Department of Social Welfare and Development stopped her from leaving the country, a DSWD official said yesterday. DSWD Region 4-B director Wilma Naviamos had raised a red flag when she rejected the girl’s application last Aug. 29 to travel to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to watch Aguilar’s concert, said DSWD Protective Services Bureau director Dulfie Shalim. The girl wanted to travel with Aguilar, unaccompanied by her parents, Shalim said. When the DSWD Region 4-B rejected the girl’s application on Sept. 5, the girl’s mother showed up two weeks later to make an appeal. “The DSWD region office there took the initiative to give counseling to the girl’s mother about allowing her child to travel out of the country without a parent and with a man,” Shalim said. The official said social workers counseled the mother on the “risks and consequences that her child may encounter in going out of the country.” Shalim said the DSWD Region 4-B has yet to make a report on a visit the Protective Services Bureau ordered to determine the role the girl’s parents played in the 60-year-old singer’s romance with the girl. Nation ( Article MRec ), pagematch: 1, sectionmatch: 1 Shalim said if it comes out that the parents coerced the girl to have an affair, they will be guilty of child exploitation. At the very least, they could be held liable for neglect, and the girl “will be a ward of the state,” the official said. http://www.philstar.com/metro/2013/10/24/1248620/freddies-girlfriend-stopped-leaving-phl

At the very least, they could be held liable for neglect, and the girl “will be a ward of the state,” the official said. This official is telling the media that the parents may be acting as pimps. I would love to know the basis of that. From what I've read about this, the relationship is against Philippine law but no one will do anything unless someone makes a complaint. Call me bubba Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 (edited) philnews .com has an interesting article on this "item" my only comment on this is this.. if it was a foreigner he would either be locked up or already deported. unless it was the late Micheal jackson http://philnews.com/2013/29a.htm In Philippine society, this sort of relationship is tolerated. It has been that way for centuries, where old Spanish friars seduced pretty Filipina maidens barely in their teens. Carrying on affairs with girls under eighteen seems to occur with such regularity that Filipinos simply turn a blind eye to it—despite laws against it—and accept it as part of “Filipino culture.” It is also important to point out here that the practice knows no socio-economic bounds. Males belonging to the poorest of the poor, as well as Pinoy titans of commerce and industry seem to find the time to entertain an underage lady friend on the side. :hystery: Freddie Aguilar, who rose to fame in the late seventies with his hit song “Anak” is now in his sixties, while his girlfriend is only sixteen. In other countries, Aguilar would quickly find himself behind bars. But in the Philippines, where laws seem to be selectively applied, Aguilar may suffer nothing worse than raised eyebrows and consternation from some sectors of society—if even that. Married male celebrities also openly keep women outside their marriage. Even former president Joseph Estrada openly flaunted his other women or “kabits” as they are called in Pilipino, and lavished them with multi-million-peso mansions. Aguilar who is now a legend in Filipino music is just the latest in a long line of celebrities who have crossed the line into what other societies would consider to be pedophilia. Whether our slowly evolving Filipino society will begin to force a change remains to be seen. Growing numbers of foreigners appear to be marrying Filipinas, but the opposite is not the case. Rarely if ever do you hear about a female from another country marrying a Filipino. Is it because Filipino males really offer nothing that mature, grown-up women look for? (interesting comment by me not the post ) The fact that a large majority of Pinoy males seem forever obsessed with underage girls tends to point to the fact that most of them have never really grown up. A sure sign of immaturity that in some way appears to have contributed to the current sorry state the country is in. Tukaram (Tim) Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 (edited) Well someone finally filed charges. http://entertainment.inquirer.net/118165/freddie-aguilar-slapped-with-qualified-seduction-raps But I must say I do not understand the "chastity laws" in the PI's. The attorney that filed the charges said He added in his complaint, “The offender, an old man has an authority and moral influence over the child because of his popularity. And he must have devirginized her already every now and then. You can "devirginize" someone more than once? It's a miracle! Man... the Catholic government sure is strong ha ha :tiphat: ~Edit~ Just found another great quote that talks about the seduction of a virgin over 12 but under 18... what makes them think she was a virgin? "According to the Revised Penal Code, qualified seduction under Article 337 is: “The seduction of a virgin over twelve years and under eighteen years of age, committed by any person in public authority, priest, home-servant, domestic, guardian, teacher, or any person who, in any capacity, shall be entrusted with the education or custody of the woman seduced.” Edited October 24, 2013 by Tuka Ram
