The Kite Patch is a highly effective Mosquito repellant in part developed by the Gates Foundation.

The hiking club at my workplace was able to test the patch and were very impressed. This product is not for sale yet but has fantastic potential. Dengue fever kills how many children in Philippines every year?

There is no price posted. They said the price would vary depending on the location the idea being developing country's would be affordable.

I would guess they will be distributed like the Lifestraw.  It is a compact water filter.  In the US it cost $20 but NGO's and other groups get them at a discount and give them away in developing countries.

Do you know how the patch works? Is it chemical base with the fumes repelling rather than killing mosquitoes?

The patch blocks insects carbon dioxide receptors up to 48 hours. The alpine club said the Kit Patch was also effective on those big black fly's that bite.

This is what I was able to find:

Waiting for Environmental Protection Agency Approval which can be 12 more months.

I just sent Olfactor labs (the developers of kite patch) an e-mail asking for further information. Dengue is something I always fear when traveling to the PI.

I'd like an entire outfit made of those things stitched together, please.  Cebu and Bohol mosquitoes love the white meat!
