The AJD Angels of Hope Foundation will host a 2013 Fun Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Davis Community Church, 412 C St. in downtown Davis.

The event, presented in partnership with UC Davis student organizations, will include a carnival, food concessions, live music, dance performances, arts and crafts, games and activities, a silent auction and raffles. Admission is $5 and donations beyond that are welcome.

AJD Angels of Hope Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides the basic necessities of food, clothing, toys and school supplies to underprivileged children locally and in the Philippines. The foundation also supports a feeding program, medical and dental free clinic, scholarships and child sponsorships for children in Cebu, Philippines.

I recall hearing about the Angels of Hope Foundation from a niece who was then attending UC Davis as an undergraduate. They have strong support from the large Filipino community around Sacramento.

Hawaii has the Consuelo Foundation named after the benefactress, Consuelo Zobel Alger. Her ancestors founded the Ayala Compañia during the Spanish period making her an heiress of the Ayala family fortune. Similarly, this foundation has projects benefiting families in Hawaii and the Philippines.

There are several others with a Philippines focus. Some accept grant proposals from Philippine non-government organizations (NGOs). This is the equivalent of a 501 (-c-) (3) not-for-profit corporation in the United States.

Yep, I saw that article, thought it was pretty cool what they were doing for the children of Cebu.
