Papa Carl Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Very moving, the pictures tell the true horror of this. For fear of sounding trivial, I wanted to also say that the choice of the music was perfect, and I wish I knew who and what the title was. Classic Dry Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 That is just so, so sad. Been a long time since I've had tears brought to my eyes.
OnMyWay Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 This is a great video to share because it shows some "before". Millions of people in the world only have the "after" picture burned into their brain, and this gives them a better perspective.
Tukaram (Tim) Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I had never heard of the town before so I had no idea how pretty it was. Looked nice. And just to tag along to this thread - has anyone posted this yet? CNN article with before and after satellite pics. Looks like a big bomb went off. http://edition.cnn.com/2013/11/12/asia/gallery/typhoon-haiyan-before-after

Tukaram (Tim) Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) Here's another Before / After perspective Before-After That is the best (worst?) link I have seen yet. Sliding the picture from before to after is crazy! I still can't believe how much damage there was - that close to me - and we are fine here. Barely 100 k North of us my girlfriend lost her house, her brothers house, and her sisters kitchen (cement house/bamboo kitchen). ~Edit~ That link is like shaking an etch-a-sketch. Popular Post Jake Posted November 14, 2013 Popular Post Posted November 14, 2013 Once again, the Filipino is suffering through another nightmare. I can't imagine what would be a typical night, trying to sleep out in the open. No shelter from the rain, insects and scavenging dogs. And yet.....somehow they endure the night and the hope for a better day is revitalized through their humble prayers. Without going too much into religion or being religious, we should offer our prayers for those that are suffering right now. Even if you are agnostic or atheist, we should offer our hopes that a better tomorrow will strengthen the will of the people to survive and project that unique Filipino smile......once again. I can no longer watch. It saddens me greatly. Respectfully -- Jake
