The smell of Christmas is in the air! It reminds me of Nat King Cole singing The Christmas Song! "Doggy roasting on an open fire". My Filipino buddies in the US told me this is more of a thing that young guys do when they get drunk. Not a regular mealtime favorite. Dog-adobo anyone? AllenInWV Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 John, that's sad about the strays. I'm a sucker for a good pound dog (that's not a typo). Ah well, something else to consider. I appreciate the info.
OnMyWay Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 By coincidence, earlier this morning, the fire department was on our street and it appeared they were going to round up the loose dogs. They were talking to some of the neighbors who I think talked them out of it. So I guess they gave some warnings. The fire department is responsible for animal control here. I appreciate the info. When you finally arrive and if you decide to go for a dog, there is an American guy named Jay, and his Philippine wife that do dog rescue, they have good connections and links with local vets, contact me nearer that time and i will find there contact details for you. AllenInWV Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 Oh it'll be awhile before that happens. I came here to start getting an idea of what the RP would be like. Retirement is still awhile off for me. But I do hope to visit soon, maybe next fall. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Forum Support Old55 Posted November 20, 2013 Forum Support Posted November 20, 2013 I read in the local newspapers some years ago that eating dogs became illegal because people were getting mange (spelling?) from it.
TedDBayer Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 I'm coming to check out Cebu area and if I like it, find a place to rent for 6 months and see how that goes. I'd rather live out side of a city. Any suggessions?? I have a dog and 6 cats. I want to be sure that I want to live there before I make the big move, sell my home in Canada. I'd bring my pets, expensive, but they are mine. The cats are indoor only, if I had a more rural setting with a solid wall, I might let them out. I have a Collie also. I'm wondering what problems animals have there? Fleas? Ticks? I was in Dominican and ticks were just gross. What are the chances of finding a really good Veterinary. I used to raise Maine Coon cats and it is really hard to find a good Vet even at home.

I wonder if it went woof when the fur caught fire
