I think misappropriated Philippine aid is small change compared to what has gone into Afghanistan.

   You are no doubt right, so, as I said previously, Time to say, no more. until it is distributed correctly

Proof of  Correct Distribution (Maybe through UN Distributors) would be a sanction, I would insist on. Happening already?? well, it is all for Nothing then, IMHO

It's a shame but I guess I would suggest that they just air drop MREs. Just bust the pallet and kick them out of the plane at 100 feet and let them scarrer over hill and dale and the right hands will at least have a chance of stumbling across them.

I think in order to cool down your engines, perhaps after breakfast, you could tell us more about the raid on Stanley Island.  And perhaps my study on the tactics used by the Royal British Navy during that time might interest you as well.  We could start another topic in the military section, OK Flyboy?

Engines Cooling,

Can't say I can offer much in the way of the raid, our job was to get Her (Black Buck) there (and we did) The Navy (Marines) did the real work Of course, I would join in any discussion if, I had things to tell but, you can imagine at 15/2000 ft or thereabouts, we did not see much of what was happening on the ground. Later when I transferred to a C130 we were a lot nearer to the Action So to speak, maybe my mind can recall a few things that may be of Interest. A certain Young Copter Pilot called Windsor comes to mind.

I will look for the Topic but if I can think of anything to say, I will by all means start it. At that time, the only thing of note I saw, was the unfortunate, sinking of HMS Sheffield,  not a thing I like to think about. even more upsetting to write about but in due course maybe. Time to off the fans and get a beer I think

:attention: Jake, Thank you, for being out there and please, move this to military section if you think it better

:tiphat:

I have no doubt aid has been stolen. What percentage? Who knows.

There is corruption in every government on earth. It's part and parcel of our nature. How many of us can say they never took anything from work?

Is it a100 times worse when the theft affects the most needy? Yep.

But for me to say that the world isn't perfect therefore I'm not going to help isn't going to happen.

In the PI I've given to the PI Red Cross. Fairly reputable. Still some theft sling the way? I'm sure there is. But even if a good deal less than 100% gets where it should be, it's better than nothing getting to those people in need.

Work to jail / shame the corrupt.

The problem I have seen is that the ones that want to be in charge are usually the last ones you want to put in charge!  That is why we always pick the lesser of 2 evils - instead of the right person.  So the corruption is here to stay. (in all countries)

I love the latest word form on high ..... quit bring to light all the misuse and handling and theft and lets just concentrate on restoring Leyte ..... sure ... thats the way to go .... lets just cover everything up so no one knows what is going on and in time folks will just plain forget what has been done ..... I see now that the two biggest fish have backed entirely out of the picture and have appointed Lacson (who probably won't be running for president next time) to be responsible for the mess in Leyte ..... and as he is not of the same party (UNO ..... same as Binay) as the 2 big fish (Libral party) the disaster won't reflect on their party ....... and so like another famous governmental official in the distant past they wash their hands of the whole thing .... slick move .... ...... JMHO

Food and water was stolen which was en-route to men, women and children who desperately needed it. What does this say about the people who committed the crimes?  Filipinos caring about other Filipinos, what a lie.  Don't be fooled, its every man for himself.  Selfishness and greed is the way of life most are living.

But when you have aid agency workers bragging they are only in the Philippines to have a 4 week R&R at agency expense in Angeles why castigate the local people selling aid they received when they get to Manila
