relcarve25 Posted December 22, 2013 Author Posted December 22, 2013 Thanks to everyone who has contributed advice to my problem. I have to agree with the overall consensus that we should just settle up and move on. Fortunately we have a good British friend who lives in Eastland and we have asked him if he will contact the Manager and find out what is, or isn't possible. Like people have said speed is of the essence before they can screw us for even more. As I originally posted it's basically our own fault for taking our eye off the ball. If our friend can't help my wife will just have to go there and sort it out. I suppose I am mainly pi**ed off because they are a bunch of ruthless sods who tried hard not to give us our legal Title, lied to us and gave us a lot of heartache which was NOT of our making. We fought a long hard battle for a year to get these things done and actually WON. Now we've given them the chance to get revenge!- LEARN and MOVE ON! I understand those of you who say that in the US at least such ruthless fines are commonplace. I guess I am just of an age and background which looks at the enormous fine and sees it as totally disproportionate to the offense. Silly me! This is the world of naked Capitalism and greed. Chris McG. Hello Chris, No wonder you've been away for several months. I can't even imagine the amount of sleepless nights of daily stress for you and your family. We also appreciate you revealing your personal problems to us. I guess that's the teacher in you.....teaching us fellow expats to learn from your mistakes. Thank you, my friend. Revenge is sweet, served on a cold plate with some soy sauce. A quotation I borrowed from Ramon Tulfo, an editorial writer from Philippine Daily Inquirer. It is a typical and often times accepted behavior for rich and powerful Filipinos to save face by using the crap mentality or simple revenge. Any hints of hope for a peaceful dialog between all parties? Perhaps using your ace up your sleeve, your lovely wife can strongly negotiate your feelings? Otherwise, take the long and safer road ahead. Because as you continue to fight (provided your health and finances are healthy), it's much easier and cheaper to eliminate opposing parties by a .45 cal bullet. Of course, that is my worst case scenario.....but how often do you read those stories in the local paper there? Hang in there Chris. Too bad you don't have a couple of your Irish buddies to take care of business.....he, he. In the meantime, your signature is the only way to go: "Illegitimas non carborundom." (Don't let the bast---s grind you down!) Respectfully -- Jake
jpbago Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 teaching us fellow expats to learn from your mistakes. Thank you, my friend. And the lesson is : Do not buy in developing subdivisions (I can add condos as well for the same reasons.)
MikeB Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 The OP has acknowledged he made some mistakes but there's a lesson here for anyone who thinks renting is "throwing money away".
Call me bubba Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 since this is an OPEN forum. i would suggest this. read what the Rules are regarding past dues 1.keep a paper trail or record your conversations 2. claim that you contacted them(maybe the same way they left you notices) as the burden of proof is now upon them. 3. not claim but suggest that you did pay the previous RA board and they "kept" the funds, as it appears that those books are not ..well what is the word.. Honest or correct 4.play the RACE CARD that as a $$ rich that they are pursuing you as they have not done others the same way 5. contact the HURLB 6.did the builder turn over the RESIDENT ASSOCIATION then they RA was taken back by the Builder? again check with the HURLB 7. have an attorney write a letter to dispute the charges 8. as some one said have your wife speak. that can work wonders/miracles 9.MOST OF ALL BE CALM. show PATIENCE think of this as a learning experience. after its over.Post all of your interactions on social media 7
