Mike S Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 First time in 6 years that I needed to exchange some US$'s over the Christmas week so I'm not sure if this is normal or not but the rates were all over the place and this was on Thursday the day AFTER Christmas .... the on-line rates were all right around 44.45 but we called and visited exchanges and they ran from 43.80 to 44.10 .... normally we get pretty close to the going rate in this case it should have been 44.35 .... even one place which has 2 different stores one across town and the rate between the 2 was a difference of almost .50 centavo ..... guess that's why it always pays to call a had of time to get the rates .... Call me bubba Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Market forces. whatever the market will bear will be the exchange rate. example. at BDO they give xx.15 just 30meters away at SM will offer xx.20 or 25 then find another changer they may or will offer xx.35 or even more(usually more not less) MIke S & others this is a really long holiday weekend . look at the bank closings, the inflow of the OFWS and the :t07051: holiday money, if we have a member who has extra time can he look at what the previous range of rates was over the past years holidays . look at yahoo.xoom or other currency sites to prove or disapprove that the rate does vary or drop at this time of the year
