I read in the newspaper this morning that they will break ground tomorrow on a new expressway linking SLEX to NLEX.  Supposed to be completed in 3 years.  About time!  It will create terrible traffic during construction, but when it is done,no more EDSA as the north-south route!   :540:

MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino on Wednesday led the groundbreaking of the Skyway Stage 3 project which involves building a 14.8-kilometer elevated tollway connecting Skyway or South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in Buendia and NLEX (North Luzon Expressway) in Balintawak.

When completed, the mostly 6-lane NLEX-SLEX connector will run along Osmeña Highway,

Quirino Avenue towards Plaza Dilao, cross Pasig River,

cut through the back of SM Sta. Mesa towards G. Araneta Avenue, cross Aurora Boulevard, E. Rodriguez, Quezon Avenue, Sgt. Rivera, until it reaches Balintawak.

Interchanges or ramps will be located at Buendia, Quirino Avenue,

Nagtahan, Aurora Boulevard, E. Rodriguez, Quezon Avenue, Sgt. Rivera, and Balintawak.

The project, expected to be completed in 2017, will help decongest EDSA and C-5.

Travel time from Buendia to Balintawak is expected to be reduced to 20 minutes; Makati to Quezon City, 15 minutes; Makati to Manila, 10 minutes; Makati to Sta. Mesa, 5 minutes.

The 26.7-billion project is a joint venture of Citra, Philippine National Construction Corporation (PNCC) and San Miguel Corporation.

Just what you need, an elevated expressway in an earthquake prone area. Hope they have good contractors who don't cut corners and have learned from the expressway that collapsed during the San Francisco earthquake 20 years ago.
