I think that it's a good sign. From my recollection, they will tell you immediately after the interview if the Visa is going to be denied.

Just curious, which embassy did she apply thru? I am going to be going thru this in April.

That is good to know about Netherlands.  I may have to do that with the girls in a few years.

I hope you are not going right away!  Your wife will be an ice cube!  If you are going to spend some time in the area while the flowers are in bloom, make sure you take her to Keukenhof.  I used to go every year when I lived in Germany and I never got tired of photographing the tulips.  You can do a day trip directly from the airport if need be.

I think Brock and his wife Nesa plan to avoid the onerous difficulties in obtaining a spousal visa for her to live in the UK by employing what has become known as the "Surinder Singh Route" after a landmark European Court ruling. The UK is not a signatory to the Schenghen Visa Treaty - as is most of the European Union - and Britons married to non-EU citizens are penalised by tough immigration laws which make it very difficult for foreign spouses to settle there. Furthermore, unlike the rest of the EU, Britain does not recognise the "Right to Family Life" for its citizens nor does it recognise that Britons are also EU citizens which allows the government to neatly avoid certain laws.

The "Surinder Singh Route" overcomes these difficulties. Basically the British half of the couple establishes a residence in a "friendly" EU country and with it some means of financial support. He can then apply for a Schenghen Visa for his non-EU spouse to which he is entitled by (EU) law. They remain as a couple in that "friendly country" until both have Residency Permits whereupon they apply for a UK Family Permit and then move to the UK. The non-EU spouse is granted permission to remain for up to 5 years and that is renewable.
