Jollygoodfellow Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Anyone have a HP battery???Hewlett-Packard is recalling more than 3,000 rechargeable battery packs used in laptop computers due to a potential fire hazard, the NSW government says.Fair Trading Minister Virginia Judge says the voluntary recall comes after the company received reports a fault in the lithium-ion battery packs could cause it to overheat."The battery packs have been sold worldwide and HP Australia estimates 3,405 battery packs have been sold in Australia," Ms Judge said.There have been 19 instances of overheating recorded worldwide but none in Australia, she said.The company is recalling battery packs sold individually or used in HP Pavilion notebook computers models dv2000, dv2500, dv2700, dv6000, dv6500, dv6700, dv9000, dv9500 and dv9700.They are also used in Compaq Presario models A900, C700, F700, V3000, V3500, V6000 and V6700, as well as HP Compaq models 6720s and HP G6000 and G7000 notebook computers.Owners can contact HP Australia to arrange a refund or free replacement battery pack.People can find out if their computer is affected by visiting www.hp.com/support/BatteryReplacement online.
