Travel Insurance, only covers to the point of Desination, on one way and throw away ticket, also have 90 day trip limit. I plan to stay awhile, where can , i get a policey to cover. I am eligible For VA in Manila, but they only cover service-connected issues. I want to make sure in case of emerencey, i do not have to come up with Thousands, before i can be treated.

Welcome to the forum. There are Philippine insurance companies that will provide medical insurance to meet whatever your needs. I have Blue Cross Philippines (not related to Blue Cross in US) and there are others. They should at least get you admitted without a deposit but it's wise to carry a credit card for emergencies.

I also have Blue Cross Philippines (thanks to Mike B). They have various packages to suit you. The other insurance companies that I saw were for employees. Some people get their insurance from their home country. There are posts on this topic if you search.

Does anyone know if Blue Cross (U.S.) can be used in the Philippines?  I will carry it over when I retire.....just wondering if I should cancel it as a useless expense if it is not accepted in RP

Blue Cross PI is good for 90 days outside the PI but only 30 days at a time. Maybe the Blue Cross USA is the same. My insurance covers me for 60 days per trip outside of Canada as many trips as I do.

I have PhilHealth just because it is so cheap.  Cash for small stuff.  For catastrophic I have my dive insurance through DAN  (Divers Alert Network).  I got it for a Mexico dive trip but keep it now because it is good worldwide, not just for diving incidents, and includes travel expenses for treatment.

My understanding of Blue Cross (US) is that it's specific to the state where you reside, meaning they have different rules. But whether it is or isn't, that's an important question that should be addressed directly to the provider.

2 Philippine companys you can check are Maxicare & Intellicare. These are 2 major players for big companies here such as Teletech & Convergys. Maybe you can get policies reasonable there.
