Mr Lee Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Vote buying is a common practice in the Philippines and is done right out in the open during election time. Can a person who accepts a bribe to vote for a candidate really expect that candidate to be honest? Can a candidate who buys votes really have the best interest of the people in his mind and heart? http://www.mb.com.ph/node/202349Criminalization of politics
Mike S Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Well maybe they could just label it "campaign funds" like they do in the US ....... and like in the US the funds can disappear over time ...... at least here they do it out in the open ... you just get your token and go to the place designated to collect your money ...... also here they give the money to the poor people instead of the favors given to the rich campaign contributors ....... Lust ... Power and Greed make the world go round ....... A big plus would be like in the US when there were no good candidates running for the past 20 years you could at least vote for the one offering the most money .... hahahahahaha

Adopting a secret ballot would eliminate vote buying. If nobody can verify you voted the way you were paid, I doubt people would bother to pay. Of course, a secret ballot could open up other ways of cheating, but that's a different topic.

That is another problem they have.
