according to news reports "blackouts are expected in the Metro Manila and Bulacan area

this friday (perhaps during the weekend)

 here is the article

Rotating blackouts will affect parts of Metro Manila and Bulacan province due to short supply, the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) announced on Friday.

Meralco said that the emergency shutdown of Pagbilao Power Station,

one of the country's largest power plants, in Quezon province placed the Luzon grid on RED ALERT.

The grid lacks reserve power and will cause two-hour power interruptions starting Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas. and Marilao, Bulacan.

The coal-run Pagbilao followed the shutdown of Sual power plant in Pangasinan on Thursday.

update .. seems that the "RED ALERT" for this rotating black out has been lifted

The power supply in the Luzon grid went back to normal at around 5 p.m.

on Friday just hours after a series of brownouts hit Metro Manila and Bulacan, the Department of Energy (DOE) said.

The DOE quoted the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP)

as saying its red alert status, which signifies a power supply shortage, was lifted as of 5:03 p.m.

NGCP said Friday’s rotating brownout was due to outages in some power plants, particularly the Pagbilao plant in Quezon.

During the peak hours of 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.,

the capacity of the grid was at 8,139 megawatts when the demand was at 8,403 MW,

causing a shortfall of 264 MW, NGCP said.

The affected areas are Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Bulacan,

the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) said.
