Forum Support Popular Post scott h Posted June 10, 2014 Forum Support Popular Post Posted June 10, 2014 (edited) The wife and I went to Guam last week to visit her Brother who works for the Phil DFA. Renewed our BB visa at the same time. If you have not been there, Guam is a lovely island with nice beaches, jungles and lots of WW2 parks and displays. A bit over run with Japanese tourists but oh well. Best part is that its part of the U.S. Almost every type of state side store you can think of, from Ross Dress for Less to Macy's. Home Depot and K Mart. Stateside resturants Outback steak house and tony roma's. Great roads and normal traffic. Get this the Maximum speed limit anywhere on the island is 35 MPH lolol. We stayed at the Guam Reef Hotel. Nice place about a 3 star I suppose. Rental cars are available at the airport etc etc etc. 3 hour plane ride from NAIA. Nice place if your itching for a bit of stateside shopping. Oh and for you retired military guys. Two really nice PX's and Commissary's Edited June 10, 2014 by scott h

jon1 Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I liked Guam (visited there for 3 weeks back in 2006). It's like Hawaii without all of the crowds (except for the Tumon bay area). Real estate is pricey (comparable to Hawaii). I know of a few people that do their annual runs there and schedule appointments in advance with the Navy Hospital. They do annual checkups and get stocked up on meds they can't get over here. Yes the speed limit is ridiculous especially when you get away from the main congested area. Beautiful island overall.

Americano Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 'Cano; she has duel citizenship so we used her American passport on this trip. That's what I thought, so going to Guam does not apply to most couples who live in the Philippines.
