Christine Paula Love Bernasor of Ormoc City is a licensed nurse who used to work as a sales and marketing coordinator for a private company.

She left her previous employment to do volunteer work for marine conservation after she was crowned first runner-up in the 2013 Ms. Scuba International pageant held in Malaysia.

Another beauty,  Jaime-Lee Faulkner of the United Kingdom, was crowned “Darling of the Ocean”.

“Winning the (first runner-up) title has brought life-changing opportunities,” Bernasor said.

Bernasor is now part of Bantayan Island’s “Back to Sea” project which aims to encourage island residents to  help in the government’s marine conservation efforts.

She is also helping in the “Save our Seafood” program that aims to raise public awareness about the importance of sustainable consumerism. She also helps raise  funds for shark conservation and promotes  an online campaign against shark finning,

Bernasor and organizers of the 2014 Ms. Scuba International pageant were at the Pacific Cebu Resort in barangay Suba Basbas in Lapu-Lapu City on Thursday to invite Cebaunas to join this year’s pageant on September 26.

The winner will represent the Philippines in the international competition in Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, Indonesia on November 28.   It would  be the third time the Philippines sends a representative to the international pageant.

The deadline for the submission of application forms is August 31.
