crad Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 What a dip stick. Whats it got to do with him if a guard orders his coffee. Its people like this that need to learn that they are not at home now. :1 (103): agree 100%. This Yank is a total plonker. He is also a idiot for bringing a lawsuit against a member of an influential family like he has done. Luckily it seems the mayor has a sense of humour He said he was surprised to learn that his brother had gotten involved in a fight, considering the latter’s age. “What’s the reason for the fight? Were they fighting about a girl?” the mayor asked in jest.
Thomas Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 The combatants are 78 and 76 Seem to be dangerous there :mocking: I have met more people here who claim to be 'retired cop' or 'sniper' or 'paratrooper' When I have settled, I think of spreading the rumour I have been sniper :)(But the truth is I only were good at shooting at distance (100-200 meters) with Swedish version of Uzi (=much slower, but very reliable even if it has been stored/hidden e g in sand.)
Forum Support Old55 Posted June 25, 2014 Forum Support Posted June 25, 2014 A friend has several guards at his building and the gladly do odd jobs for him but its not the same as this case. Likely being the mayors older brother he feels entitled. Hey Thomas........ Just how do you say Uzi in Swedish?
Thomas Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 For most of my favorite business ideas, I plan to get an employed, who is a MIX of guard and worker. (=Mainly being production worker, but it's his job to keep an extra eye on things, and act if needed. As a part of what he get extra by that, he will get a living house rent free beside the manufactory.) Hey Thomas........ Just how do you say Uzi in Swedish? I suppouse similar to how a Filipin would say it, because most letters we pronounce similar (So almust "Ose" if writing it to an English person. Hard to explain to English speaking, because you have "odd" pronousiations of some letters e g "U" and "I" (I guess English would call an "Ose" similar to "juicy" or "use I"(I have forgot the model name of the Swedish "unbreakables".)
JJReyes Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 This is much ado about nothing, although at their ages, the incident will pump much needed adrenaline into their system. Nothing like a court fight to add excitement to your life.
jon1 Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 It will give them something to look forward to. I guess that wanker has nothing better to do but go to court. In the end he will lose a lot of money am sure. I wouldn't be surprised that someone with that kind of influence gets his Visa revoked or the wanker black listed. Bottom line: no matter what your official status (BB, Retiree Visa, Tourist Visa) you have zero rights and are here at the RPs "whim" which can evaporate. If you can't stand the local mannerisms, go back home or deal with it. I try to limit my SMDHs (Shaking My Damn Head) to 3 per day. After that no matter how high I count or how many deep breathes I take I still get frustrated.
FlyAway Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Guess we need to think of ourselves as the coffee running down the expats face. Hot when it starts, flows to the ground and cools off on the way. One way or another washes off. Then again, if he had not wanted to be the social hero then coffee would have gone in a different direction! Americano Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 It appears that the foreigner was wrong to involve himself in something that was none of his business but if the accusations of the other man pouring coffee on him and hitting him are true then he did wrong too. If what we read in the story is true then the foreigner only stuck his nose in where he shouldn't, which is not a crime, but the Filipino committed two criminal acts by pouring hot coffee on him and by hitting him. My bet is on the foreigner to win the case.

OnMyWay Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 That reminds me of a story in South Florida, probably around 2003, just after I moved there. As you probably know Florida attracts a lot of old retirees. Two older couples, I think 80ish, were in line at the movie theater. One old guy accused the other old guy of cutting in the line and they got into it. One pushed the other and he fell backwards, hit his head, and died. Stupid way to end your life, arguing over a place in line. Quoting myself with a bit more to add. Another angle on the topic is that men tend to get OUC (Old, Ugly and Cranky, where are you, young man?) when they get into their 60s, 70s and 80's. Not all, but many. They have lived a long time and really don't want to put up with any sh*t. My way or the highway and many vocalize this without inhibition. Words come out that probably would have been held back in their younger years. Sometimes this is induced by a medical condition. My dad had a stroke and after being a nice friendly guy most of his life, became OUC. Young people just sense this when they encounter an OUC and just ignore it, let it pass. The problem is when 2 OUCs meet and have friction, then there can be trouble, like now. Just one opinion of many. :)
