OnMyWay Posted July 4, 2014 Author Posted July 4, 2014 I think DHL will take a check, as long as it is not in bearer form where anyone can cash it. They do have the right to make you open an envelope and show them what is inside. And especially anything TO the Philippines because OFWs will try to send cash home. I just looked at the DHL web site and it appears I could send a 12 X 9 X .5 cm envelope, .5 kg, for p1434.
Jack Peterson Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 I Cant see this, a cheque is a legal document, just put documents and all should be well.
Dave Hounddriver Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 put documents and all should be well. Good advice, but of the two people who have posted about trying it (myself and Scott H) we are 0 for 2 about them opening the envelope and refusing to accept checks so if anyone has actually done it, I would love to hear how they got away with sending a personal check, addressed to family member. Post office? Anyone used them to mail a check from Philippines? They are next on my list of companies to try.
MikeB Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 The LBC office I use doesn't look inside the envelope whether sealed or not. They ask but that's it. And they don't send to PO boxes, only street addresses.

OnMyWay Posted July 4, 2014 Author Posted July 4, 2014 Has anyone been denied sending a check by DHL? They should take a check as long as it is fully filled out and not signed on the back. Once it is signed on the back it is negotiable. Unacceptable Shipments Shipper agrees that its Shipment is acceptable for transportation and is deemed unacceptable if: it is classified as hazardous material, dangerous goods, prohibited or restricted articles by IATA (International Air Transport Association), ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation), ADR (European Road Transport Regulation on dangerous goods), any applicable government department or other relevant organisation; no customs declaration is made when required by applicable customs regulations; it contains counterfeit goods, animals, bullion, currency, banderols/tax stickers, bearer form negotiable instruments, precious metals and stones; real or imitation firearms, parts thereof, weapons, explosives and ammunition; human remains, pornography or illegal narcotics/drugs), it contains any other item which DHL decides cannot be carried safely or legally, or its packaging is defective or inadequate.
sonjack2847 Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Does anyone know if LBC delivers to most major cities in the US? I know that they don't have a large presence there but they probably sub-contract with someone. Does anyone know if LBC delivers to most major cities in the US? I know that they don't have a large presence there but they probably sub-contract with someone. I had an important letter to send to the UK. I used the post office here as they do track and trace.Maybe you could look at them.
OnMyWay Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 Following up. I used DHL to send my tax documents from Subic to my CPA in the Cincinnati area, which is conveniently located right next to the major DHL USA hub. I dropped it at DHL on Tuesday afternoon and it was delivered a day earlier than promised, on Thursday. It was delivered in the morning but I only asked for the cheapest end of day service. Cost was p1434 which is the .5 kg express envelope rate. One good thing about DHL is that you can sign up online for free, create a shipment and print out the shipping papers. You don't need a credit card to sign up if you are going to pay cash. It takes a few minutes to sign up but I like doing it online because I hate filling out little forms with tiny little boxes! I forgot to ask about checks! I will stop by there again soon.
