Just Back From Malapascua

Be interested if they have the dynamite fishing under control yet. We had a few scares while diving. Good to hear they have recovered, must return soon.

I didn't see (or hear) any recent signs of dynamite fishing and soft corals are flourishing on many of the dive sites.

 

Come to think of it I didn't see a lot of fishing activity but since it was my first visit I have no benchmark to compare to. I might have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time and it didn't occur to me to ask my mate. What was it like when you were there?

 

Walking around the coast I saw a number of boats under repair and what looked some some new builds. Yolanda may have had one positive effect: the reduction in fishing and diving this year may have given the waters around the island a chance to recover.

 

I certainly plan to return soon.
