i am bob Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 We have all watched the last few years while China has tried to claim almost all of the South China Sea as their own - including all the fish and other natural resources. In fact, this year, their 9-Dash Line (their supposed border in the South China Sea) this year became the 10-Dash Line. Now it is becoming apparent that they are trying to bully their way through the rest of the world. It has been well known for quite a while that pretty well all the high-end hacking was being carried out by groups backed by Chinese government - or even by the Chinese government themselves. Now Canada has come out and stated unequivocally that China is hacking into our Canadian Government networks. What does China have to say about this? "You can't prove a thing! Shut up!" Canada’s claims of NRC hacking ‘irresponsible,’ Beijing says BEIJING — Reuters Published Thursday, Jul. 31 2014, 7:04 AM EDTLast updated Thursday, Jul. 31 2014, 7:08 AM EDT China’s foreign ministry accused Canada on Thursday of making irresponsible accusations lacking any credible evidence after Canada singled out Chinese hackers for attacking a key computer network and lodged a protest with Beijing. Officials said “a highly sophisticated Chinese state-sponsored actor” had recently broken into the National Research Council, Canada’s leading research body. Canada has reported hacking incidents before, but this was the first time it had singled out China. China is often cited as a suspect in various hacking attacks on companies in the United States and other countries. China’s embassy in Ottawa has dismissed the allegation as groundless. The Foreign Ministry repeated its standard line that China opposed any hacking activity, and expressed its anger at Canada for making the accusations. “The Canadian side, while lacking credible evidence, offered criticism for no reason. This is irresponsible and China is resolutely opposed to this,” the ministry said in a statement on its website. “We urge the Canadian side to correct its mistake, stop criticizing China for no reason, and dispel the negative effects that have come from this.” The ministry did not elaborate. Canada’s Conservative government has had an uneven relationship with Beijing since taking office in 2006. Citing human rights concerns, Prime Minister Stephen Harper initially kept his distance. Under pressure from business in Canada, he reached out to Beijing. Harper visited three Chinese cities in 2012 and promised to help increase oil exports, citing the need to find new markets. The United States buys virtually all Canada’s crude. The research council attack was not the first hacking attempt in Canada that has been linked to China. In 2011, hackers broke into computer systems at the Finance Ministry and other government departments. The Conservatives denied to comment on allegations that China was responsible. In 2012, Canada said it was aware hackers had breached security at a domestic manufacturer of software used by energy companies, but again declined to say whether it felt China lay behind the attacks. Midniterider Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 I'm surprised hearing crickets about this particular subject which is so dear to the people of the Philippines (and other ASEAN countries). The threat of Chinese contemplating domination of Malaysia and subversion in the Philippines is well known. Anyway, here's an interesting development: http://qz.com/547796/indonesia-may-be-the-next-challenger-to-beijing-in-the-south-china-sea/
Forum Support Popular Post Old55 Posted November 16, 2015 Forum Support Popular Post Posted November 16, 2015 Just history in action, the East is ascending once again. Europe has been on the decline for many years. The US is thoroughly divided and now ruled by a regime unwilling or able to lead. Philippines as a country is a mess. It's governed by a kleptocracy and ruled by the same small group of families the past 400 years. Nature abhors a vacuum. The Chinese are on the move, what's gonna stop them? The UN? :hystery: The US?
Lou49 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 No one will stop them. They will have to self implode to be stopped.
Crocodile Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Make no mistake, China plays the long game. They creep, creep, creep and then tell anyone that questions them that China is only minding its own business and that it is not the business of anyone else. They have done it to their land borders and are doing it to their sea borders. Much like a bully who pushes the innocent person against the wall and tells others to keep on moving. What will happen in the long term is open to debate, but China really does not look forward 5 years, they look forward 50 years. Still, I believe that there will be something that sneaks up inside their borders and will change the country from the inside - it will start off quite small, but it will grow and change things quite quickly and significantly. Hey China (yes, I know you read this), remember Tank Man? He was an ordinary citizen and there are millions just like him that will change the course of China in the future at some time you can not possibly predict.
