I am not at all sure that the Philippines is taking this seriously enough.

Hong Kong will, because Hong Kong has already faced a virus so deadly that it kills the doctors and nurses first and destroys your line of defence.

Its terrifying.

The difference in attitude between HK and Philippines is that the Philippine authorities regard any natural disaster as "God's Will" - and that "the US  and Europe will come to our rescue".

Look.. I dont really have enough knowledge to completely understand the risks or precautions to be taken with Ebola.

I also think that very few British people have the education to do so either..

I watched a story on the news where a doctor said that the virus can pass between the pores in your hand from an infected surface..

In that case,I dont believe that it is only countries like the R.P will have huge problems..

I understand so far that Nigeria have machines/scanners that can detect high temperature fluctuations in airports.. Those with high temperatures cannot travel.

How about those that are about to travel, already infected but showing no symptoms?

I guess that their high temperatures appear after they have reached their intended destination.

BTW.. Its good that Mr Methersgate and Mr Markham can converse with me here without the constant disrespectful disruptions of a certain Mr Ash!!

Hong Kong and the international airports in China monitor the temperatures of all arriving passengers before the Immigration queues.

I have not seen this in Manila or Clark; I seldom visit Cebu.

The point is that the African countries where the infection is now apparent, say that they are barring those with a temperature from departing..

I have no idea how long from the point of being infected and a "temperature" would occur but if its longer than 24 hours then I fail to see how  any airport in the world could detect it before its too late.

I hope that I am wrong.

Sounds to me that we all need educating..And fast!

Triple LIKE Markham!  Many headlines and photo ops for the govt fat cats to self gratify their ego and sometimes

their pockets about improving the infrastructure within their community.  You seen it before -- honorable mayor of

Pasig displaying a small part of Pasig River cleared of trash, garbage and squatters.  Yeah, right!

I have seen many rats prowling the streets of Manila and Cavite City late at night.  At first glance, I thought they

were stray cats (many of those too).  But the Manila rats are the most hideous, the most foul smelling with their

huge body covered with grease and dirt.  They are also seeking the high ground swimming in that brown water.

Can you imagine the most common surfaces to pick up communicable diseases?  Door handle to Jollibee, ATM

machines and most of all, their local currency.  My field kit whenever I leave home contains hand sanitizer, small

flashlight, face towel and pine scented alcohol.  If I'm stuck out in the boonies on a road trip, emergency food,

first aid kit, water and tools are planned ahead, just like checking all the engine fluids and tire pressure before

we start out.

Again, please be careful guys........

I recall seeing the body temperature scanner at NAIA Terminal 3 international terminal last June.
