sonjack2847 Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I'm confused, are you referring to the Tuesday accident in Carcar or something else? The first sentence is about Tuesday the other is meant to be an example as such, of reporting here sorry for the confusion.
Brucewayne Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) So much for Ceres' promise to reign in it's killer drivers. According to the article the driver says the little girl ran in front of the bus and he couldn't avoid her. Do you know otherwise? That isn't the point, Ceres is already in a jam over two buses turning over due to bad drivers. No matter who's fault it is, Ceres is being watched carefully because of so many complaints and will surely be blamed. The driver was in jail and had to pay if that isn't a hint as to who the cops think are at fault. Since when do facts or common sense have anything to do with the way laws are enforced here? Calling the man who accidentally and tragically struck this child causing her death a “killer” is a little harsh and premature given this blurb of a story, don’t you think? Sometimes accidents are exactly that; unavoidable, no matter how carefully you drive. He’s probably devastated. I drive around the Carcar area a lot, it’s a zoo. I’ve found the Ceres drivers as a group to be among the best. The driver was in jail and had to pay if that isn't a hint as to who the cops think are at fault. The driver being detained pending charges by the victim's family has nothing to do with who the cops think is guilty. That’s exactly what would happen to you, me, or anyone who is involved in a serious accident in the Philippines with injuries or death, regardless of fault. They are held for 12 or 18 hrs regardless. That is their law.

I never called anyone a killer and the rest of your statement proves that someone believes the driver is guilty, otherwise he would not have been held pending charges as you so aptly put it. It would do for you to read my post carefully before flying off the handle. If you don't like my opinion, tuff man, it is mine and you can't force me into your little mold. I have been here long enough to know that the laws are only enforced at the whim of the law enforcement community and I am going to reiterate "Since when does common sense have anything to do with it"? We had an old woman killed by a speeding scooter in front of a school near here, the driver was not held in jail. There were two boys in a crosswalk at the public school a year ago who were hit by a commercial truck and he didn't go to jail. I don't see where very many do go to jail unless it is possibly at the disgression the cop on duty at the time. Who knows?
MikeB Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 You're all over the place dude. I was referring to this. So much for Ceres' promise to reign in it's killer drivers. No idea what all the other stuff is about.

No idea what all the other stuff is about. Yes, two buses rolled over within a week of each other and in at least one, some people were killed. Killer Drivers was the title in the headline in the local newspaper. Ceres was about to be suspended from service, but paid a small amount on hospital bills and promised to reign in their drivers and have them properly retrained. Now this happens. Who knows what lies in store for Ceres money wise, but as long as they have money, I am sure they will still be on the roads and people will probably continue to die.
