GregZ Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 City Hall proposed a P10.5-billion annual budget for this year but the City Council only approved P5.89 billion. Here is your answer. The budget is not fully funded. More funding=more payments to seniors.
Call me bubba Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 So it's instead of / because of the lack of a government pension? 1.If you have some sort of a pension this would be your "bonus" usually based on your income or lack of income, (poor folks) they just dont hand it out. you must be "certified" either by the DSWD or local barangay 2.if they didn't contribute to SSS or GSIS then they wont get anything ZERO. if your new here or not that read in the local politics,, This is a way that the local government can(hopefully) ensure that they will be reelected to the positions by "caring " :hystery: for the underprivileged Is this indiscriminate cash to all Filipino seniors regardless of finances? Thats the way I read it, it would be nice if they could make it a regular occurrence. Its not given to all Filipino seniors as its the LGU is the one who determines/decides if they have the money to give away. of what I have read in the past its usually the "poor"senior citizen that's gets the extra $$ help from the LGU If one is receiving a SSS/GSIS pension they do get a 13month payment. in times of a "calamity" they can get an advance of the pension 1 city in NCR/metro manila gives a FREE CAKE to the seniors of their birthday, free medicines /eyeglasses and if you turn 100yo you get 100k pesos, ,but read the small print to be eligible for this "gift"

Americano Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 (edited) Half of the money goes to the people and the other half goes in the politician's pocket. What's so complicated about that. Its just business as usual in the Philippines. Edited August 19, 2014 by Americano

Never heard of it. here is the article about the "benefits" ones gets if she/he lives in Makati (they get free movies .daily daily vitimans and many other "free" things from the city even a sugar free cake on thier birthday)) the small print for the 100k "gift " is that 1 must been a resident for the past 5yrs and a member of their"blue card" so when 1 turns 100 yo they will get the "gift" of 100k pesos Guarin also proudly said that last year, eight elderly residents of Makati qualified for the grandest prize of all: P100,000 cash each for reaching their 100th birthdays. The cash reward was given early this year to the four surviving centenarians; and to the beneficiaries of the four other qualifying elderly who passed away before their rewards were handed out. http://businessmirror.com.ph/index.php/en/news/economy/16403-makati-model-lgu-for-perks-being-given-to-its-elderly
Call me bubba Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 here is the story of the 100k pesos "gift" The Makati City government recently awarded P100,000 cash gift to a World War II veteran tracked as the city’s 18th centenarian. Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay personally handed the cash gift to100-year-old Narciso Cayetano of Barangay Pembo during a simple ceremony on Monday, at the Office of the Mayor. According to Binay, Cayetano is only the second male awardee since the program began in December 2012 upon passage of City Ordinance 2012- 099. Cayetano, a former member of the United States Army Forces in the Far East (USAFFE), was located through joint efforts of the Makati Social Welfare Department (MSWD) and the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA). He was born on June 16, 1914 and married to Anita Almonte. Their marriage was blessed with an only child, Marissa. After World War II, Cayetano became the Procurement Officer at Camp Aguinaldo. After his retirement, he worked as a detachment officer in different security agencies. He also served as barangay kagawad in Pembo for two terms, from 1982 to 1987. The centenarian was accompanied by his 90-year old wife Anita and his daughter Marissa when he was honored by Mayor Binay. Of the nine persons in the first batch of centenarians awarded in January 2013, only one was male and four of them were honored posthumously. The P100,000 cash gift is awarded to the next of kin of qualified recipients who passed on before the scheduled ceremony. Starting this year, the awarding has been done quarterly upon recommendation of MSWD to increase the chances of recipients being able to attend the ceremony themselves. Cayetano and the previous honorees were able to meet the criteria set by the MSWD, the lead implementor of the BLU Card Program. To qualify for the program, one must be a Filipino citizen; must be a bonafide resident of Makati; must have reached 100 years old between January and December of the current year; and must be a BLU CARD and WHITE CARD holder for at least five years. BLU Cardholders also enjoy a host of other benefits from the city government, including cash gifts every year ranging from P2,000 to P4,000 based on age brackets, given in June and December. They are also entitled to unlimited free entrance to premier cinemas in Makati, free tours in Metro Manila and other parts of the country through Lakbay Saya, free salon and spa services, cakes on their birthday and golden wedding anniversary, free medical care and hospitalization and free medicines for maintenance and various illnesses. They are also exempted from the city’s number coding scheme, and upon their death, their beneficiaries are entitled to P3,000 burial assistance. http://www.manilatimes.net/makati-awards-p100000-citys-18th-centenarian/131287/
