Yeah, I try to avoid eating steaks at most Filipino restaurants because from experience, everything is pretty much made well done even if you asked for medium rare. As for the ham and cheese, Cheese Whiz, Velveeta and other "melting" cheeses seem to be the norm. "Imported canned goods" are seen as good because somehow imported=automatically good quality or "high class" to some. The deli ham or Sunday roast ham that are so common back here are more expensive and in the case of the latter, reserved for Noche Buena or other special occasions.
