Well been using Western Union for years to send money to the Philippines. Never had a problem but tonight I did as normal and sent money to my wife. The transaction failed and a notice on the website and Email said to call Western U.

I left it to sort out in the morning but the phone rang and it was western union, they tell me my transaction is cancelled and I can not use WU again? I said what the F, I said I used WU for years and send to the same person; my wife and now I cant use it? Why. Sorry sir I don't have that information.

Well get stuffed WU you just started a war.

I have yet to find a way to send money to Philippines that someone has not complained about.  Best is to have 3 different ways and when one screws you over then use another.

Sorry to hear the WU screwed you over.  Sorry but not surprised.  Why not just open an Australian Bank account with ATM access.  Give her the ATM card so that she withdraw direct from the Australian Bank and you can put a little money in it at your end when the time is right.

I had the exact same issue after using WU for years. They suddenly out of the blue halted a transaction a few months back. They asked "for security reasons" for me to verify my identity and the reasons for past transactions. In my case, I went the extra mile and did so-VERY inconvenient to say the least..thinking it was for my own protection. Ok, that said, a few moths ago  Annie wanted to send money to her family-we use my name because I have a WU Gold card. Guess what-another stop in payment! I called and said WTF!!! You should show in your system I had previously provided security info and now you want me to do it all over again!!?? I said to them to get stuffed. I use XOOM now with no problem.

I went back to their website and filled in a complaint form. selected from the drop down "Register an executive complaint" or something like that, wrote what the problem was and submitted but then the page says this

What does this mean?
The page you are looking for may have been deleted, may not exist, or there may have been a spelling mistake.
What do I do now?
To continue, return to the home page and try again later. Or,  find an agent near you to help complete you this service.
You can also try finding the page you want on the westernunion.com site map.
.....
Stuff you WU

Why not just open an Australian Bank account with ATM access.  Give her the ATM card so that she withdraw direct from the Australian Bank and you can put a little money in it at your end when the time is right.

I will use world remit or orbit, I think the fees for her to use my card there will be far higher. Thanks anyway.

I use WU, it's convenient because I am in their system. Have run into the verification garbage but I don't complain too much about it because I was using passwords that I wasn't bothering to memorize so had occasionally to reset pasword. I am looking forward to being able to just deposit checks into a bank account.

Does it seem funny to anyone else that the person you are talking to is at the WU call center in the Philippines and you are sending money to the Philippines and they usually don't ask much? Usually it's thank you sir, it's approved and I want to ask what did I do that it's ok now? Just calling? But then I want it to process so I don't rock the boat. :1 (103):

Monumental screwups are made at companies every day, costing them valued long time customers. I wish I could say that I think you could put a dent in their business with your blog but it wouldn't be true. I plan to stop using them as soon as possible, for my own reasons. By them, I mean any of the bloodsucking remit businesses. :)

K and I used to use WU until one fine day I got notifications of two transactions - to her - that I had not made. The cash - quite a lot of it - was picked up in Paranaque whereas she lived at that time in Bulacan. I reported this since obviously our names were being used for money laundering, and got a "well, what's your problem - you have not lost any money" sort of response.

Switched to World Remit and have been delighted with the care that they take.

Major corporations, including possibly Western Union, contract with companies that monitor complaints by customers who vent online. You need to post the complaint in different forums to be effective. Action is taken if the corporation thinks you can do serious damage. A good example is returning soldiers from Iraq are entitled to five free bags. Delta Airlines (domestic section) permitted two free bags and charged for the additional three. The error was probably employees who were unfamiliar with the special privilege and contractual arrangement. Rather than filing their complaint through military channels, they posted it online. Long story is Delta Airlines had to reimburse them, gave each soldier and their families free domestic first class tickets and all kinds of gifts.

The airline could not afford the potential loss of business. The complaint had gone viral. It did not help that airlines make more than $5 billion in baggage charges and this is one big irritation among customers. A congressman from their home district demanded an investigation.
