Movember - Mens Cancer Awareness Month

A buddy of mine has been running the event in Subic the past few years and its been fun, however 

this year its expanded stuff a little bit, with more events around manila, a proper website, online sponsorship etc. We really want to get more traction, and hopefully next year we'll expand the events to other cities.

 

However don't let that stop you participating this year - its all online too and you can help.

If you don't know, November is Mens Cancer Awareness Month. Where basically a heap of guys (Mo Bros) grow their moustaches for the month and try to get sponsorship for their most creative, manly moustache. All monies will go to Philippines cancer charities and clinics. More about Movember info on Wiki

 

Getting Involved

 

We would love to get more people involved this year, either spreading awareness, running events, attending the events, donating directly. 

 

or

 

Become a Mo Bro by growing your moustache for the month and getting sponsors if possible. Not to mention basically having some fun with "being a man" (for a change).

 

To become a Mo Bro is easy

 

a) Sign up with your Google or Facebook ID on the site http://www.movemberpi.org

b) Full in your profile fully with a photo and a few words on why you want to become a Mo Bro

c) Send us a message that you want to participate and a Donation page will be created. 

 

Once thats done we'll send you a link top your page which you can pass to friends or colleagues to try and get sponsors, keep your profile up to date with new photos of your new facial hair every few days (at least once a week).  

 

Even if you aren't participating, feel free to sign into the site for updates on the goings on. 

 

Get Your Finger Out (or in!) 

 

Now for the awareness part. Almost 500,000 men in the USA are currently diagnosed with Prostate or Testicular Cancer, many of which are treatable if us blokes weren't so stubborn and get checked out whenever there is so much as a peep out of in our undercarriages, especially those over 40 - thats the idea of Movember, more men need to know this stuff ! 

 

According to the Cancer Society 1 in 7 men will most likely develop prostate cancer at some point in their life.

 

That means that this disease WILL effect you, or someone you know, now or in the future - so spread the word and check your bum!
