Popular Post Jack Peterson Posted November 11, 2014 Popular Post Posted November 11, 2014 Fellow members, this evening at 7 pm (11 am UK time) I and a few Ex Military men plus a few others will raise a glass and Observe the 2 minuet silence and take a Salute, In Remembrance of those that gave their lives in 2 World wars, so that we , may enjoy and Continue to enjoy what they unfortunately, never could. We do this at a Popular bar in Dumaguete. Lets hope some here, will do the same in Spirit if not in person. JP :tiphat: ( with a tear in his eye this Morning.)

Methersgate Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I stood at my desk for the two minutes, somewhat to the surprise of my Chinese colleagues. This afternoon I am going to see the poppies in the moat.
jon1 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I typically view this day as introspective. In the US, Nov 11 is Veterans day. It used to be Armistice day until 1954. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veterans_Day We should all reflect on memories of those have fallen before us and relish in the freedoms thus granted for their ultimate sacrifice. I choose to make this a personal observation and refuse to attend ceremonies at the cemetery or gatherings (and am thankful I do not have to endure parades, etc.) from people who just talk. If I am not with veterans on that day, I am alone.

Mike S Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Lets us NEVER forget those that gave up everything either the living or the dead so that we may live in freedom and not tyranny :tiphat:  This sent to me by a friend ..... http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2014/11/09/in-flanders-fields/
