Diabetes

I always thought that the Filipino diet would be a healthy one , how wrong can one be?

Being married to my wife 10 years I have often wondered why these beautiful young Ladies go from being so thin to overweight by their 40's.

All the Filipino community seem to enjoy their get together party's and seem to love to eat fatty food such as belly pork or over indulge in sweet deserts with condensed milk, sweetened milk or sugary stuff.

I was surprised to find out that Diabetes along with high blood pressure and high cholesterol is quite common amongst Filipino's.

So to read here that Expats are showing signs too maybe it is time to review your diets Guy's

Respectfully JB

There is no escape. Nearly all the rice, grains, corn, etc. produced has been genetically modified to increase the amount of sugar. The end result is diabetes. If you are a cynic looking at the bright side, try to imagine how much money the pharmaceutical companies make producing drugs to combat diabetes.

The disease was relatively unknown in the Philippines about 40 years ago.

That's so true Mike,

My wife is monitoring her sugar levels and was shocked to find eating to much rice sends her sugar levels up.

She has been given tablets and her weight has dropped as a result and now watches her diet more carefully.

Trouble is and I have seen it, her friends think eat the bad stuff and pop a pill,

When traveling around I see quite a few "Diabetes" treatment places around Philippines.

Seems everyone we run into thinks they have some form of Diabetes. I am Type II. Wife goes through a lot of my test strips and lancets testing everyone that thinks they are diabetic. When they get readings of 90 - 130 I say shut up!!!

Wonder how much I can charge for a per poke glucose test?

Another big problem is kidney stones. Large amounts of highly salted foods (soy sauce, etc.) and little drinking of water = kidney stones in the future.

the least number of sleeping hours a day!!!!!,    this is not my experience.....The rest I totally agree with.

Early today I was at the local clinic to have the annual blood tests, seemed like every Local there was a  diabetic.

I was unaware that white rice was so unhealthy, thanks for the info guys. We normally eat basamati but lately been unavailable.

Just because they are in bed, it doesn't mean that they are sleeping. Going to bed with their sideline or cell phone does not give a good sleep.

Yup guess so.

But my experience from current and previous GFs are once they hit the pillar they are  out of it.

On a side note makes me as jealous as heck.
