OnMyWay Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I was wondering if anyone could offer advice on where to buy Seretide Diskus for a good price. It is a fairly popular treatment for asthma / COPD so I thought there might be a few patients here. (Same as Advair in the U.S.) I have had an off and on cough, and the Seretide seems to be the only thing that has worked, so I guess I will reluctantly take it long term. The list price at Mercury for a monthly disk is p1933, and I have a Glasko Smith Kline discount card that reduces it to p1453. Has anyone found a better way to purchase it? I have not checked any other pharmacies and I don't know if the discount places will have this. I just checked and supposedly there is a generic version now, called Seraflo. I looked on the The Generic Pharmacy website and they don't have it listed.
earthdome Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I was recently diagnosed with moderate COPD. Since arriving in the Philippines I had problems with coughs that took a long time to go away. Until a few months ago it got so bad I could not lay down flat without starting an endless fit of coughs. Went to a pulmonary specialist and he immediately prescribed an inhaler to use as needed. After chest x-ray, echo cardiogram and pulmonary function test he prescribed the inhaler daily. Since I started using the inhaler daily I have had no problems with coughs. I am using Onbrez, which is 150mcg of Indacaterol maleate. Cost at Mercury Drug is 85 pesos each, or 2550 per month.

I am using Onbrez, which is 150mcg of Indacaterol maleate. Cost at Mercury Drug is 85 pesos each, or 2550 per month. That is very similar to my experience with coughing. It seems to be aggravated when I first lie down or first get up. I first had it down in Laguna where the pollution was very bad. It started with a flu that left me with a cough that would not go away. I finally went to a pulmonary doctor at Asian Hospital Alabang and he prescribed the Seretide powder inhaler and a nose drop treatment as well. He said I have mild asthma, which I never had before in life. I was fine after that and after we moved to Subic I was fine for a while. The air is much cleaner here. However, maybe six months ago I got another bad cold / flu and that seemed to trigger it again. After the fly was gone the cough continued and slowly dissipated. Then I have gotten sick again a few more times with the same result. It seems that my lungs have become susceptible to cold / flu due to the ongoing coughing. I'm reluctant to use long term medicines so I asked a pulmonary doc here for some short term meds, but they did not help, so back to the Seretide. Thanks for the input! Jack Peterson Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Odd as it may seem, I have stopped using my inhaler daily (I use only when absolutely necessary) I don't take to well to the steroid content. Instead, as soon as I feel dry and get a little Breathless I pop in a menthol candy, Works wonders for me and the sugar content is minimal At a little over 45c a shot it is a darn sight cheaper than something that upsets my System. Worth a try! JP :tiphat:
