deevey Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Having tried it a few times it can work out far more comfortable, safe and as cheap (sometimes cheaper) than a regular Taxi assuming there is a driver available in the area. No tips, no complaining drivers, GPS tracking, no money changes hands (as its paid in advance) and if you want to spend a few extra $ you can upgrade get better cars e.g. Camry's Download the App on your phone, sign in using a credit card and you are good to go - prepaid credit cards work as well if you are the cautious type.

Call me bubba Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 (edited) remember this is a 5th world country trying to be 1st world. there is in MANILA/NCR a APP service Taxi service . "GRAB TAXI" i think at 2 of the better malls I have seen the "advert and promo personnel". so a service is here and available,, Last week i was in manila . was in a taxi that had the service, NOTE i didn't "hire" the driver says it helps him to get a better "customer"(safer) with out the haggling that occurs as his English was limited that's all i really could ask without causing a nosebleed  or being taken to another "girly bar" which i wasn't inquiring about :hystery: off topic. if one does use this service(app related) to get a taxi, THANK THE DRIVER, and give a slightly extra tip as i understood . the taxi/driver pays a little extra to have this service connected to his LEASED unit Edited December 8, 2014 by Pittman apartments Sgn

deevey Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 (edited) Uber is not available in the Philippines yet. 51 countries so far. Speculators think it is worth billions. http://www.bidnessetc.com/30378-uber-increases-market-cap/ Yes it is! ... at least in Manila, check https://www.uber.com/cities/manila Theres alot of controversy a few weeks ago and it was all over the papers as the taxi operators filed protest and the LTFRB arrested an Uber Driver during a "sting". They are now working with the LTFRB to come up with a solution with regards to the proper franchise agreements, but they are still operating amidst this. The issue most would have with Grab a taxi or Easy taxi, is that they are just regular taxi's hired though a website or app. Uber are actually Private Drivers, generally with better cars, GPS base tracking and Cameras in many cases.
