OnMyWay Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I have had only one experience with this shop but it was a good one, so I thought I would pass it on, in case someone needs some work. After a few more visits hopefully I can make a stronger recommendation. A few weeks back I was in San Fernando just after dark, looking to buy some Xmas deco from one of the many roadside shops. I pulled up near one and Abby went to check prices without the long nose guy, who stayed in the car. She came back and we thought the price was OK, so I needed to back up to get out of the road more. I thought the area behind the shop was an empty loading dock area for a warehouse. It was very dark. I backed slowly and felt/heard a loud crunch. It seems that someone had placed a large power pole directly in the area that I had reserved for backing up. The left rear taillight on the Avanza was smashed, inside and out, (but still working) the rear bumper popped off of the side panel, the bumper had one deep scratch and other "pole rash" on it. I avoided the long nose tax on the Xmas deco, but I got the pole tax instead. There are very few paint and body repair shops in the area. I asked Jon1 if he knew of a body repair place, and some other expats he knows recommended this place. It is called Korean Auto Works and it is inside the Freeport Zone, just inside the Kalaklan gate, across from Subic Gas. I had seen it many times as I get gas at Subic Gas. As far as I know it is the only place in the area (besides the two dealers) that has a heated paint booth. I went in to get an estimate on a Friday and ran into another expat who has been going there for years and he is very happy with them. The manager quoted me p2000 to fix and paint the bumper, and said he would get back to about the tail light after he got it from Toyota Pampanga. As promised he texted me on Monday. He had the light and it would be p3200. I don't know if he marked it up but that was fine with me. About $70 for a full brand new light assembly. I made an appointment for the next Thursday. Dropped off the car at about 0830 and it was ready as promised about 3 pm. The work was good and you really can't tell there was damage. I had those plastic chrome trim pieces on the tail lights (and on other places on the car) and he could not replace that, so he removed the one from the right taillight, so the lights match. I'm not sure how he removed it because those seem to be securely glued on. So the work was good and the cost was better. He could have charged me the p2000 for the bumper but he charged less. Light p3200 Paint & supplies p 500 Labor p1000 -------- Total p4700 About $100 for something that would been over $1000 in the U.S. Maybe even $2000. I'm going to try them out for other services. They are a full service shop, not just a body shop. They have a nice looking waiting room with air con, which I did not use this time.
