It is now quite possible that Slade could be one of the first - or indeed the very first - Briton to be extradited from the Philippines under its

Treaty with the UK which is reportedly being ratified by the Philippine legislature, however any extradition could only take place after any and all cases against him here are resolved

- and that could take years. Slade's forced re-appearance in the UK would be more assured and far swifter if he came to the attention of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement team attached to the PNP in Angeles - they specialise in the rapid repatriation of foreigners accused of sex offences to face trial in their home countries. No lawyers involved!

I may not be the smartest person on the forum.. :bonk:

BUT,, if his passport was CANCELLED wouldnt that make him a "UNDESIRABLE ALIEN" subject to deportation.

with or without pending legal charges HERE or THERE?

The KEY word is pending here

then NO NEED FOR any TREATY to extradite (legal process)? correct?? :th_exactly:

maybe some member who is "friends" with a BI offical could whisper something,,,.... psst///psst////.

The UK Government won't cancel the Passports of those British Islamists who've gone to the Middle East, joined IS even if their name is John and they've beheaded a few westerners; so it's hardly likely that they will cancel Slade's. The reason being that a government can not, by international convention, render a citizen stateless.

But even if Slade were made stateless, he would then be the responsibility of the Philippine government since he is physically here and BoI would not be able to deport him since he no longer would have a homeland.

The UK Government won't cancel the Passports

perhaps I didnt state it the best way

. if 1's passport is not longer VALID for travel .would that make them inelegible to stay in Philippines.

I only base my statement on past cases of ones who been deported,

as the home country CANCELLED that persons passport. or didnt RENEW

that being the case. the philippines then deported that person was deported for not having a VALID. passport for travel

I repeat, the UK government will NOT cancel Slade's Passport as that would contravene international treaties and conventions as well as the EU/UK's Human Rights Act. I understand that the US will cancel Passports under certain circumstances but that's a matter for them.

USA will cancel a passport if you are behind on child support payments. Many of the states even revoke your drivers license for it!

If this guy was a US citizen, pretty much a high certinty they would have him in custody and in the US a long time ago. To much of a big fish to let go.

What the UK should do, is await his Deportation from the PI, then when he returns to the UK he would be arrested, Interviewed and then have his passport removed

This is what happened some time ago with the Pop star "Gary Glitter" (Paul Gadd) when he was released from a Vietnam prison for a similar Offence,  he was Deported on serving the sentence. He would then be Technically/Physically even, under House Arrest in the UK

Put on the Sexual Offenders Register and his every move would be monitored. Whilst any further Charges would be brought here, the UK can only deal with him in the UK of course he will if he lives long enough ( He is over 70 now) at some stage he will need to renew his Passport and this can only be done now in the UK. Then again if it is not renewed  he will be in Deeper trouble than he is now,

China and Vietnam do, in fact, cancel the Passports of some of their nationals who are convicted of serious offences overseas - this is simply to prevent them being deported back to their nation of origin. This is completely in breach of the conventions, of course. There is no prospect of Britain doing this, but as Jack says in the post above, in practical terms the only way to renew a UK passport now is in the UK, so...

You can apply for a 12 month extension in the Philippines.
