Popular Post jpbago Posted January 18, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 18, 2015 Gossip, whether true or not, is very common here. They have too much time on their hands with nothing to do. They live very, very close together. Look down any side streets and you will see hundreds of people just sitting or standing around in groups.

Popular Post jon1 Posted January 18, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 18, 2015 It is part of the culture here. I told my wife in the beginning, I don't need any drama. Life throws enough our way. To this day she doesn't give me any. She withholds a lot of stuff that goes on back home and sometimes I get wind of it but it is always something not involving me. They love the telenovas and drama on all of the TV. I agree, lack of anything to do breeds gossiping (true or not). We should and can make life interesting enough without having to gossip and creating disharmony. I view gossiping as usually a negative influence that goes hand in hand with jealousy.
robert k Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 The #2 indoor sport is gossiping about the #1 indoor sport and who is on which team and who is trading players! :mocking:
MacBubba Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 I am told by my spouse that gossiping is pervasive in her culture. Glad that it's a practice she eschews. It's actually funny how people (including Westerners) confide in her so much. And rather impressive how she keeps her lid tight. I can't count the number of times I hear about something that has come to pass and I find out later that she knew it would happen before it did.

Methersgate Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Facebook is the no. 1 gossip medium for longer range tsismis; near range tsismis is still word of mouth of course. I agree that it is the no.2 indoor sport, and that a great deal of creative licence goes into it. K says she detests it and in fairness to her she does shield me from it.
