I have had people following me and then informing other family members of my where-abouts. Going to a local store for load to then be hit with a text message "OMG you spend P1000 on Load"! and thats before i get home.
That's why I have told some FALSE information at FB, and the true parts are hidden among things NOT RELATED to me  :mocking:   so I can tell people I WANT to tell e g "The second photo in the C album is the corect one".

It's a perennial part of Filipino culture. The juicier the blind item is, the better! It also seems that getting involved with private matters is also deemed as a caring gesture  :mocking:

Oh it that's why !  :)

Apparently, I have a new Storage Room Big enough to house a family of  2 + 2 (Well it is 4 mts x 3) and it is permanent made of concrete and has a proper roof and Gutters that pipe into the Tank (Wow, people know more than me)

I called into the Sori Sori for a box of matches and I was told this.

In fact If I want to find out about things going on in my house or what the Weekend holds for me, I now ask at the Shop. :hystery:

I sometimes wonder if I want to tell my Wife something and I get scared I can always leave a message at the shop EH!

As social group creatures who are interdependent....., gossip has always been an essential survival tool. Information exchange and manipulation are no stranger to any society. Its just in some... the stakes are higher. So it is here. It is a high art here, l take informal lessons by observing my wife behaviours with others. Later she often confides in me what is really going on in the undercurrents of the meta-language. She is very careful with her words and information control. I knew she was unusual in several ways when I met her, and time has proven that she has mastered her culture to a very high degree. She does not like exchanging chismis freely and does not like "showy people". I have learned much from her. Understatement and maintanance of personal privacy is the much wiser course of behaviour in her opinion. She keeps our candle hidden under the bushel because she knows how powerful envy and jealousy are in this society and how it can cause a cascade of problems for you if you are not careful.

Once this posting clears, I will post a thread on an aspect of the culture here that intrigues me..... 'Being honest' and 'Speaking the truth'.

Triple LIKE sir!  Look forward on your essay about being honest and speaking the truth.  Respectfully -- Jake

One of the most prolific behavior of the Filipino culture is to gain status as the tsismis queen.  Who's got the hot story this morning?

The Filipino guys are guilty of this deeply entrenched practice too.  Look at all the daily exposure on TV and tabloids.  The infamous

drama queen Imelda, to be followed by Gloria launching a brand new market for customized wheel chair with matching neck brace.

And to be followed by supreme court justice Corona riding high on his own customized wheel chair.  Google kawawa, ako and you

will find another original Filipino behavior called OA (over acting) with some crocodile tears.

Envy, jealousy, crab mentality, idle gossiping, over acting, lack of remorse or guilt, not losing face, materialistic, flaunting their bling-bling, guns, goons and gold....etc, etc.  The rules of the Jungle applies here.....

Es mo pun in da PI......but what a ride, eh!
