Jack Peterson Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I think and could be wrong that everyone is entitled to a passport if a citizen. Entitlement and a Right of issue of such JGF are 2 totally Different things, Sometimes we Forget that the Passport is the Property of the Issuing Government and can be Withdrawn at any Time. IMHO in this case it should have been. JP :tiphat:

Methersgate Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 JGF - I agree with JP - in Britain but seemingly not in the Land of Oz a Passport may be withdrawn - quite a number of people thought likely to want to join Daesh in Syria have had their passports withdrawn. Methersgate Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) There are a number of odd aspects to this very nasty crime, starting with where it took place - Dipolog. Now those of us who have been there tend to like the place, but it is hardly "on the map" for the average tourist. Next, the age of the victim is given as 17 which as we all know is below the Age of Consent in the Philippines where the other party is significantly older. The poor girl is described in some places as a "bar girl" but does anyone know this? Dipolog does not have much if anything in the way of a "bar scene" so far as I know (and all my visits there have been with the family so perhaps I would not know..) Evidently the suspect and the victim had been in contact over the Internet, and she met him at the airport (which airport?) Good Police work by the Dipolog and Dumaguete Police forces anyway. A lot of Filipino families are going to be worrying about their daughters using Internet chat rooms. Thomas Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 It is understood consular officials are providing assistance to Ali, I hope they give him BAD assistance, and DON'T let him be moved to an Australian prison, so he will have to sit LONG time in a prison in the Philippines...
