Popular Post FlyAway Posted February 5, 2015 Popular Post Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) From previous posts we were in Palawan. We flew from Palawan to Cebu for a night till our early morning flight to Camiguin Island. Upon our arrival at Camiguin Airport we were met by an old friend of my wife. He is Canadian married to a Filipina. They have a nice small water front resort called "Secret Cove". Nice place with reasonable room rates. Our room was literally 20ft away from the water. First thing we did was check out my wife's former boss in Hong Kong's property holdings. I wanted to see them and it had been over 10 years since she had seen them to. Wife's former boss passed away last October. I was really impressed by the house. It sits on several hectares of land with coconut trees and orchids. Even though no one lives here except the care takers, it is really in good shape. It is off a paved road close to Mambajo. Going through the town of Mambajo we stopped at another property owned by her former boss. My mouth dropped at seeing this place. Beautiful building just sitting vacant! It is being maintained but wow! to just leave a prime piece of real estate vacant? At about Noon, We decided to rent a motor scooter to explore the Island. Cost to rent the scooter was P400 for the day. Count on the tank being empty. I put in P100 worth of fuel and off we went. First stop was Walkway to the Old Volcano and Stations of the Cross. It is quite a trek up. We got up to 6 and decided to head back down cause we wanted to circle the island in daylight. Traffic on the main road is surprisingly light. Being a novice scooter rider, this helped out a lot! We stopped off at a place called Lagoon Bistro for lunch. It overlooked a nice bay. I looked at it and thought wow, this would be a great zip line. Then we saw people zip line down across the lagoon. Of course we had to try that. It was P250 each for the two part zip line. We were able to drive around the Island in about 5 hours. The next day we had planned on going to White Island but it rained all day and night. January 5 was basically a washout of things to do. Many of the roads were covered with sand coming down the mountains. January 6 we went to White Island and Mantigue Island. Will write about those in another post.
