Popular Post FlyAway Posted February 8, 2015 Popular Post Posted February 8, 2015 January 5th it rained all day so we just sat around the bar at Secret Cove. Next day at 7:30am it was cloudy with not much sun. We decided to take a chance on the weather and head out to White Island. Now White Island is not really an island, it is more of a big ever changing sand bar. To get there you have to rent a boat. Cost was P500. You can spit this cost with other people to. The P500 is for the whole day if you want. We had the boat pick us up right at the docks by our hotel. There is also a small fee that is supposed to go to the government but I forget the amount. It was between 20 or 40 peso per person. Not to much out here. Some entrepreneur Filipino's set up what I would call a mini mini sari sari store selling snacks and drinks. Water was warm and clear. We stayed a few hours before deciding to head back. It was about 20 minute boat ride each way. After White Island, we decided to go to another island called Mantigue. This island is classified as a nature park. There are multiple ways you can get to the island. The boat operator that took us to White Island offered to take us to Mantigue for P3,000. We thought that was to much. Plus it would have been like a 3 hour ride in his boat. We decided to take the route a local would. From the hotel to Mambajo we took a I would call an over sized trike or you could think of it as a mini jeep. Should have taken pics of it. Cost for that was P10 each. At Mambajo we took a van to the boat landings to Mantigue Island. The van does not take you to the actual boat landing. You will have to walk from the main road. As you can see from the above photo, there are fee's for pretty much everything. Boat is the same as White Island. You rent for the day. Does not matter how many hours. We did not do the glass boat. This is another one of those places you will have to walk through the water to get on and off the boat. Next to Star Fish Island in Palawan's Honda Bay, this place has been one of the better places to swim. It is a small island and you can walk all the way around it quickly. There are locals living there as well. After spending the afternoon we took a Jeep back to Mambajo. It was a long wait for a Jeep I can say that. We got off the Jeep and then decided to go to the Ardent Hot Springs. The road sign said it was 3 KM away. There were guys on motorbikes offering to drive up to the hill. They wanted P100 each. Locals had told us it is normally no more than P50. We decided to walk due to the point of them trying to over charge. Hot Springs were nice to swim in. Entrance fee for that was P50 per head. Basically we did a night swim. They are open 24 hours. We found a motorbike that was willing to take us back down to the main road for P80 for the both of us. We had dinner at a local eatery within walking distance from our hotel. Was fun to chat with the locals and have a few Red Horse and San Miguel's. All and all, a fun day!
