But it's just another senseless killing. I should probably have written "Cebu" in the title. Edited February 20, 2015 by Methersgate
Jollygoodfellow Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 3 Foreigners Shot in Central Philippines: 1 German Dead Police say Filipino assailants fatally shot a 31-year-old German and wounded a Frenchman and an Indian inside a restaurant in Talisay City in the central Philippines. Police chief Reycel Carmelo Dayon said the pre-dawn shooting Friday inside a McDonald's restaurant followed a heated argument between two unidentified Filipino men and Indian Cheten Saparaiya and his friend Julian Millard, a Frenchman. The two foreigners are residents married to Filipino women. German Henry Haffner was outside with his Filipino girlfriend when the assailants returned with other men. This time three of them were armed. Cheten and Millard stepped out but ran back inside when the men started shooting. Haffner rushed inside to take cover but was also shot. He died on arrival at a hospital. http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/foreigners-shot-central-philippines-german-dead-29095572
Methersgate Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 Some more information in the Inquirer, here: http://globalnation.inquirer.net/118865/german-killed-frenchman-indian-wounded-in-shooting-incident-in-cebu/ CEBU CITY—A German was killed while a Frenchman and an Indian were wounded early Friday after they were shot by two Filipinos following an argument inside a fast food restaurant in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City, about 12 km south of here. The German, Henry Haffner, 31 and a temporary resident of Barangay Tisa in Cebu City, suffered a gunshot wound in the stomach and died a few minutes after he was brought to a private hospital. Wounded were Frenchman Julian Millard, 31 and Cheten Saparaiya, 32, Indian national – both married and residents of Barangay Pooc in Talisay City. Both were in stable condition at a government hospital in Cebu City. SPO1 Mikie Espina, Talisay police investigator, said Millard and Saparaiya were with a Filipina inside McDonald’s in Barangay Tabunok past 4 a.m. on Friday. Haffner was not with the group and was on another table, said Espina. The Filipina told the police that they were eating about 4:20 a.m. when two Filipinos arrived and started to make fun at them. The two foreigners, however, confronted the two Filipinos and an argument ensued. The two Filipinos pulled out their guns and shot the foreigners. Millard was hit in the arm and foot while Saparaiya was wounded in the nape. Haffer ran to the second floor but was chased by one of the Filipinos who apparently thought that the German was with the two foreigners. Haffer was shot in the stomach. The two perpetrators then left the restaurant, boarded a motorcycle and sped off. Police later recovered at least 16 empty shells from 9mm pistol and another 5 empty shells from .45 caliber pistol as well as 11 deformed slugs from the two guns. Espina said they were looking into the possibility that the Filipinos and two foreigners knew each other prior to the shooting incident. He added they also asked the restaurant management a copy of the CCTV footage inside and outside the establishment to get the identities of the gunmen.

Well I hope they asked them nicely. Can't they just seize it?

Kuya John Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 This indeed a sad tale, and once again from what Meth's tells us, two people eating are victims of abuse, two other people step in to help, results in two recovering in hospital and one dead! Got to be more to this, than just Pride and Honour. Sad World we live in.
rfhypnos Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 No doubt it was alcohol related, I haven't heard of any foreigners who are out delivering the morning paper to residents......despite the alcohol involvement though, it would be nice to have the assailants pay the price. Prison in P. I. for life must be like a slow death.
Dave Hounddriver Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) Prison in P. I. for life must be like a slow death. Not according to this report . http://www.rappler.com/nation/78395-new-bilibid-prison-vip MANILA, Philippines – For some prisoners, life was really more fun in the Philippines – even behind bars. In an operation that rattled a nation already used to scandalous tales of corruption, Philippine officials saw for themselves the lavish and sometimes, gaudy abodes of 19 inmates in the Maximum Security Compound of the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa. During the operation, government authorities confiscated over P1 million in cash during body searches of 16 convicts. Police also found a gamut of other things that are supposedly not allowed inside Bilibid: “shabu” and other illegal drugs, firearms, drug paraphernalia, firearms, flat screen TVs, sex toys, pornography, luxury items, and even a stripper bar and Jacuzzi spread.
