Papa Carl Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I doubt there is any question as to whether you could live on this amount of money in the Philippines......, the question is are you more likely to DIE in the Philippines with 7,000,000 pesos a year! There is something to be said for not having access to that kind of money while living here! Papa Carl
Gerald Glatt Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 There is something to be said for not having access to that kind of money while living here! Much more to be said for having that much. But why only 7 mil that much and you should be making more each year. Employing more people and raising the standard of living of all within 1k of yourself.

tomaw Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 I know, for those of us who live here and see how some folks get by on P300 or less, it seems obscene. But if we look at it objectively P7Mil comes out to about USD 160,000. I did a search and the director of the IRS (internal revenue service, our tax collectors) he makes about USD250,000 (with out bonuses) The head of the American post office (which is basically a GOCC in the states) makes around USD 277,000------------all this while the United States minimum wage is under USD16,000, the variance is huge. But the bottom line is that if you want quality people (and I am not silly enough to say that ALL senior government officials in the Philippines are QUALITY  ) you have to pay them enough to keep them from the private sector. From what I understand, professionals outside of government such as engineers, nurses and teachers, average about $400-$500 a month! No wonder Filipinos think we are all rich. By their standards we are.
