Popular Post Tukaram (Tim) Posted April 10, 2015 Popular Post Posted April 10, 2015 We have a large German speaking contingent - about half the group. One of them makes sausages and sells them to a local grocery chain. So we are set for good sausages. Another bakes wonderful bread! (he won't say where he gets the dark flours) He sells them at the meetups. So we have bread & sausage.... now if one of the Germans would brew beer we would be all set! Our local group is pretty positive. Almost all are married so not much "monger" talk. Mostly we concentrate on where to buy good cheese, lunch meat, bread etc Almost no drama. Very minimal bitching & moaning. (kind of like this Forum) :tiphat:
Popular Post sonjack2847 Posted April 10, 2015 Popular Post Posted April 10, 2015 A few of us meet in Dumaguete about one time per month. Nothing fancy just a few drinks and a chat.

WordsandMusic Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 I love German food, I lived in a place Called Babenhausen, between Darmstater and Ashaffenburg, (sorry about the spelling) been a while. Had a band there for three years, traveled around playing Em and NCO clubs, doing the beer feast circuit. Back then it was 4 to one exchange rate. I tore some German food up, and drank enough beer to float back to the states when I was done.
virginprune Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I like German food too. I was stationed there as a squaddie for four years in the mid 70's. When I was in UdonThani, Thailand, there was a German guy that had his own pig and herb farm and restaurant. He made great wurst and salami and proper German black bread. There is an English guy I know here that makes good english sausages and bacon. Will have to search out a Deutche expat in my area!
Ynot Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 i just like food! But what about meet ups, maybe admin can put up a calendar on the site and people can list the dates they will be in country if not already in country. And from there you could organise a meet if you wished. Just a thought

If anyone was interested in utilizing a calendar I can add another just for the purpose of listing dates of arrivals and meet ups. Calendar link is found by clicking the "More" button on main menu.
